UPS Strike Looking More Likely

A story from KTLA indicated that it is looking more likely there will be a UPS strike. I hope for everyone's interests a fair and equitable agreement can be reached.

I would be hesitant to place an order at the end of July and have my package stuck in transit for the duration of the strike. August 1 is the strike date.

@qualitygal I do not know the specific demands either. I know the job has become demanding and stressful compared to the UPS in the 1980's. I knew two drivers back then. It was a great job, wonderful benefits, and good salaries.

🔭 What to watch: The workers' current contract expires July 31. No additional negotiations are currently scheduled, the Teamsters Union said.

Negotiations have been held up by disagreements over pay and cost-of-living increases.
The union argues that salaries haven't reflected the large profits UPS enjoyed in recent years, Bloomberg notes.

One thing they want is air conditioning in all vehicles. I live in a very hot climate and consider air conditioning imperitive.

Give them air conditioned vehicles and a proper raise. For goodness sake, when will companies realize that a happy employee will be a better employee which will benefit everyone. GEESH!

They should have air in their trucks, some places it is over 100 degrees, good grief. It's not too much to ask.

It seems more of my ordered items are coming from other carriers and have been for a while. I still hope the strike is avoided because you never know when you'll need them to make the delivery and I do still find some things are delivered by them. I also still think they are among the more reliable carriers, though others seem to be stepping up.

I got 1 packages from QVC and one from HSN today from UPS and 2 packages from QVC from USPS.

Most of the time QVC uses USPS except for gold jewelry sometimes that will be sent by UPS.

It's extremely hard to get a full time job at UPS. These positions are guarded. Most of the workers are part time. Full time UPS drivers get good money and benefits.
