Family member says you're welcome to come visit, but only if you leave your little dog at home.

If you cant leave your dog at home, then dont visit them. Its pretty cut and dry to me. Their home, their rules. Your choice and your reasons.

Honor their wishes, leave the pup with a trusted relative or kennel.

Depends on how badly I want to visit that person. I understand that there are reasons others might not want a canine guest. If I was eager to go, I'd put the pup in a kennel for the duration. If I waa indifferent, I'd stay home.

Some people are of the thought love me love my dog. Not everyone is a dog lover, if you really want to visit find someone to look after your dog or don't go.

If I couldn't bring my dog, I wouldn't visit. But....I make my dog behave and he doesn''t have the run of their house.

I put up with the demands of others for years...I don't do that anymore. Period.

Our little dog is family. We don't leave our dog at home...he was the reason for purchasing an RV. We could visit family with the RV but our little boy is not left alone for long periods of time. Better yet, I would suggest that the family come visit us.

That's 5 hrs? To be separated from a pet?

It may not be pup behavior, maybe just allergies.

I'd stay home. We don't have a dog these days, only cats, but 3 hours of driving for a 2-hour visit?

Unless it was a very special occasion and a close relation, I'd pass.

(Edited to add: I don't have any issue with the people saying they don't want the dog in their home. Their home; their rules. I've always had a "no smoking" ban in my homes.)

People that dont have pets, most likely dont want them in their homes. I would not feel it necesaary to bring a pet with me to someone elses home , if you know they dont care for animals . Not everyone is an animal lover, people just have to understand that.

I'd visit and leave my dog at home. I wouldn't expect everyone I visit to want a dog to come with me. Some people don't want pets in their home and I understand that.

Is there a reason the host doesn't want your pup there? Sometimes behaviors we overlook ourselves with our pets (jumping, begging for food, barking) cannot be overlooked by others. Perhaps there is another pet in the host's house that would not get along with your pet? There's got to be a reason behind the request.

I am not a pet person. If the visit is so short there is no reason to bring the dog.

The reason does not matter. They were honest and direct enough to let them know to please not bring the dog. She can either visit or not. They get that she may not visit.
