Today’s “exciting” topic- Mr. Clean Erasers

I admit I don't have a need for these very often, but has anyone noticed a decline in quality with these? Specifically a decline in durability?

Each eraser has become a single use item for me. I just used one to clean the bottoms of a pair of shoes I'm taking to consignment tomorrow and it pretty much disintegrated as I was using it, like immediately. Might as well have used a wet Kleenex. And these shoes had only been worn twice for a very short period of time so it wasn't like I was having to scrub with full force.

I had little bits of eraser on my shirt and on the floor even though I was standing over the trash can using it. It just totally fell apart so I obviously threw it away.

I've used them for a long time on many things . Their great , but , your right in saying they don't last as long ! Very disappointing !

I've also found that true of scrub daddy .

I noticed that also last time I helped my granddaughter clean her shoes. I just bought a new box at Sams club and the box claims "extra duarable, lasts five times longer" so I'm sure they have gotten complaints.

I think it depends on what you use them on. When I clean my tennis shoes or use it on the bathroom grout, it falls apart, but when I use them on my stove and elsewhere in the kitchen it lasts a long time.

They absolutely are less durable than they used to be. They disintegrate on the first use.

I also bought a box labeled 5X stronger!! Haven't had a chance to get into that box yet. We'll see!

Costco sells a variety pack. True, they seem to have changed, but I still depend on them to remove tea stains from my mugs and spoons.

Who says Mr. Clean isn't exciting?

I've noticed the same thing with these and the sheets but I can't seem to live without them. For awhile I couldn't even find the sheets though.

Another very coincidental thread. I've never tried these on shoes, but not ten minutes ago I saw a woman on youtube talking about how great the Dollar Store "shoe eraser" is.

Edited to clarify it's not the knock off magic eraser. It's different packaging specifically called Shoe Eraser.

I've never used Mr Clean erasers, but do use Clorox toilet wand pads, and feel lucky if it holds together long enough to clean the toilet bowl!

Obviously in trying to maintain production levels thru Covid, there was a cutback on something that seriously affected the quality of these cleaning pads. Yet still paying more for an inferior product.

I never found them to work great. I know everyone raved about them all the time. I didn't know if I was using them wrong or something, so it was not an item I ever bought more than once

When my erasers are just a tad past their prime, I use them to clean the inside of the microwave.

I've been using erasers from a package purchased some time ago. I'll keep an eye on any new ones I bring home.

I am sitting on a gold mine! I have about 10 of these that I bought and never used.

Oh no--please don't tell me they break down over time just sitting in a cabinet.

This is the closest I've come to being a billionaire!

Bought them when we got our C.O. for this house thinking I'd need them for the tub, the boat, the white railings outside. Didn't need them after all....

I also scored four 2 packs of soft pink light bulbs, found them in a linen closet, long after they'd been banished from store shelves.

I seriously think that maybe if each poster emails the manufacturer and complains, they just might re-vamp Mr. Clean Erasers.

Also, they just might send you a coupon if you have the box bar code and quality code information.

I'm not sure, though, but the company should become aware of the problem.
