Hmm, There Is Something Afoot At Crazy Neighbor's.

I haven't seen the guy in quite awhile but thought nothing of it. Dogs were around, cows were out wandering, the usual.

Now there seems to be only 2 dogs now and they hang at the neighbor's cousin's place on the other side of the farmhouse. Seems to be fewer cows although one of his bulls was in the road Sunday.

His son is hauling junk out by the truckload.

No idea of what is going on although the town grapevine (basically guessing) is that he bought another farm, for over half a million, and he is living there.

All I know is that it is a lot quieter. No 11:00pm gunfire this summer. Yeah!!

I hope the gossip is correct. I know your neighbor has been an ongoing nuisance. It would be wonderful if he is out of your daily life. Enjoy the peace and quiet.

@On It It would be great if it is true. Of course his 30 something son (lives 1/2 mile down the road) has been over there.

He is a piece of work too. Been arrested for numerous things including beating the stuffing out of his wife/SO. She went back to him.

Time will tell what is going on.

@qualitygal No obit. I would not be surprised if he did buy another farm. He has money and there is no more room for "stuff" on this property.

He is close to 70 and must enjoy collecting junk cars and useless farm equipment.

As long as he is not next door more power to him.

@scatcat He set up targets in the field behind his house. He would stand on his back deck at 11:00pm and have target practice. He evidently had night goggles.

His brother, who is sane and a great guy, told my husband that the guy subscribed to various mercenary magazines. The brothers are like night and day.

@goldensrbest They roam because neither dad or son will fix fences.

The fence behind my house has been down for over a year. I'll be darned if I am paying to replace it.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Lots of older farmers NEVER throw out any machinery or cars....it may have useful parts (probably not). Or they may have to pay to dispose of it.

My brother and his wife purchased the farm originally owned by her great grandfather from the current Menonite owner They gave the owners a month to remove whatever "junk" they wanted. My brother found a tractor under piles of tools in a barn.

The absolute worst thing is that after they cleared the junk from one pasture and put their horses in it, the horses went blind from whatever chemicals had leached into the pasture.

@goldensrbest I think some people are. He has several junk cars on his front lawn. I guess he told a neighbor when "they" came for is guns the cars would slow tem down. Okey dokey then.

His mother is probably spinning in her grave. She kept that front lawn mowed and trimmed even into her 70s.

I mind my own business i. e. I don't poke the bear, the bear is well armed.

@cindyNC Heaven only knows what is going into the ground over there.

He has a huge pile of tires which would be a nighmare if there was a fire.

One of his old silos collapsed years ago, it still is in a heap.

@Marp I don't know if he is selling or of the kid will putz around it.

That farm is in h*llish shape. Besides all the junk all over, buildings are a wreck and the house, well, he kept a lot of dogs inside and clean is not a word he understands.

If they do sell I hope the new buyer has a bulldozer and a fat wallet.

Truthfully, he signed a gas lease years ago, as long as there is $ coming in he won't sell.
