Kentucky Derby. I just assumed everyone knew it was today. It was so touching for the horse that won. He is named after the young son Cody who is wheelchair bound. Bless his little heart...my husband & I were both crying.

The Ky derby has not run yet. However Cody's Wish did win the Churchill Downs Stakes and yes it is a heartwarming story!

@SurferWife That was such a good racethat Cody's Wish won. Can't believe he came up from last place. That was only the Breeders Cup though.

They euthanized one of the horses right after it raced today....and the others died within the past few days. Something is not right. These horses are being drugged or abused in some other away. Shut the whole thing down if it means they have to sacrifice these beautiful animals for a sport. Forte was scratched this morning due to a bruised ankle....the trainer was going to run it anyway...but the vet said no after it stumbled during practice.

The trainer was going to run Forte when the horse had a bruised ankle? That is animal cruelty.

Something is very wrong with the Kentucky Derby with horses dying. It's really a spectacle for money and to show off stupid looking hats.

Someone else said the same thing. I didn't realize there were a number of races before the big one! All I know now is I'm in the mood for a mint julep, but we have no bourbon, no mint, but we do have ice. So, I'm 1/3 of the way there.

I did just make a pitcher of sweet tea! That will go great over ice. Come to think of it, a sprig of fresh mint would go well, too. I guess I'll have to rely on my sun hat, sweet tea and the beach.

It is an incredible story of a horse and the love of a boy.

As incredible as it is to watch a magnificent horse win like that I don't watch them live anymore. Not since Barbaro.

I did watch it on youtube just now and the story of Cody Dorman.

When the horse was just 6 months old, he met Cody and laid his head on the boys lap. He recognized him 2 years later and always acknowleges him when he is there at the race. He has won everytime Cody is there to watch.

It is heartbreaking and absolutely wrong that any animal should lose it's life for a sport esp to entertain humans.

The Breeders Cup is its own race and it is run in at Santa Anita in California.
