Suitcases on HSN

Just curious if someone has tuned in today to see the special value on HSN. I am interested, probably don't really need it but wondering if anyone owns hard suitcases and can give me some advice on what is being offered. I am not a fan of their forum, never enough people posting and not as wonderful as the QVC version.

I have the carry-on in croco trim faux leather she did years back and it's great.
This set today is made of hard plastic and I prefer soft-sided luggage.
I don't really understand the need for hard-sided luggage, unless you're putting valuable electronics in your suitcase.

I have a set of Samatha's soft-sided luggage from 7 or 8 years ago as do all the women in my family. We're all very pleased with how it has held up and we've gotten many compliments on it.

If you go to HSN.com, you can read the total description and the specifications and see all the colors. You don't have to visit their forum which I think is cumbersome to use, boring and useless. I have soft and hard suitcases and I prefer my hard because it's easier to handle than the older soft set. The wheels rotate and spin. And I love the shiny lipstick red color.

I have her luggage in both soft side and hard and I like them both equally. This has been a few years ago and admittedly, I don't like some of the changes in her recent luggage.

Her original luggage with the original lining is gorgeous. I have the hard side in blush and it's a head turner, but I have to admit I like my liner better.

I even wrote to her asking why she changed her lining. That's probably not a deal breaker though.

You can't go through an airport without someone asking about SB luggage...it's just that pretty.

Samsonite and American Tourister both have stores on eBay.

I picked up a 3 piece set of hardsided American Tourister for DS over Presidents Day. With their xtra 20% off the set was $146 w/tax. Free Ship.

It is heavy compared to softsided so be prepared for a workout. Top quality? Probably not at this pricepoint but for a few road trips a year, he's happy with the switch to hard sided.

I've been tempted a couple of times but the items I've seen have her name prominently displayed. I don't like any names on my items whether it's Gucci, LV or anyone else. I don't know if she's changed that to just her initials but I prefer soft side luggage anyway.

I know what you mean about the HSN forums. They are so dead and cumbersome. I understand why you posted here. You were wanting people's experiences with the brand, and the Q forums are very active. I will post here about HSN products for just that reason.

One poster wanted to know why someone would choose hard-sided luggage. I, too, wondered that, until a friend who travels A LOT for business said that with hard-sided, there is no discrepancy on the size of the suitcases for carry-on or for extra charges if they're checked. With soft-sided, if they're packed with too much, they can then be too big to check or extra fees can be incurred.

I haven't flown in almost 20 years, so I am behind the times in what is required, the charges, and how to pack. I have all soft-sided luggage. I will need one-on-one guidance if I ever fly again. lol

I travel a lot. My husband uses soft side & I use hard side. The only advantage I see to soft side is that I can pack more into his suitcase easily. I like my hard side as I can pack breakable or fragile items in it & they always arrive home in tact ( very fragile items I carry on).

The biggest disadvantage to hard side is that it opens like a clam shell. When you get to a hotel and you are not emptying your suitcase, entirely, the clam shell type doesn’t fit on the luggage rack & I usually place it on the floor which is annoying & inconvenient.

@bonnielu I have become a huge fan of Samantha Brown's products. Personally, I prefer soft-sided luggage for handling purposes, and also for the extra storage compartments offered on the outside.

I have the Samantha Brown Croco Embossed 16" Rolling Carry-It-All Bag, and the organization is top notch. She really thinks of everythng. My favorite crossbody is her Samantha Brown to-go Quilted Belt Bag. I bought it in Black and it was so beautiful and roomy that I purchased it yesterday in the Sand color.

my preference is hybrid - hard shell corners and frame and soft side body. i got one of SB croco 26" and returned it immediately. ok for car travel but too flimsy for checked bag.

suitcases get super dirty now, but maybe its just Alaska Airlines.

Oh, thank you! I couldn't understand what the benefit of hard-sided luggage was, but your post explains it. It always seemed rather cumbersome to me, but I understand now it cannot be over-stuffed like a soft-sided piece.

My ONLY complaint about my Samantha Brown luggage is having her name so prominently displayed! My daughter and I hate logos as you do.

For those posters with the original soft sided faux leather set with the croco trim, Samantha posted on Facebook that that style, along with coordinating pieces, will be back this fall on HSN.

I heard on CNBC that there is actually a shortage of soft-sided luggage at retail due to pent-up travel demands globally.

I have two sets of her soft sided luggage that I purchased several years back. In fact I just returned from a recent trip where I used one of her Ombre pieces.
