Does Your Mate/spouse know your cellphone password?

We don't have a password on our phones or computers. Why? No reason IMO. I don't have anything to hide so anyone could use it.

DH would always run to my phone to check messages. I told him to stop because when he does that I forget & don't see the texts. I don't run to his phone when he gets a message. Since he's retired now his phone is always on his desk & my phone is always sitting on my desk.

All sounds on my phone are turned off or down. I just pick it up every once in a while to see if I have any texts.

I guess I didn't answer your question. If I did have a password & DH asked for it I would ask why but yes I would give it to him. If you cannot trust your spouse/mate issues will occur.

My spouse knows my password because we use the same one (though my main way of accessing is via thumbprint), not that I think he would ever go into my phone without my permission.

I'm not sure how I would feel if he asked me for it, I think it would tick me off because it would imply that he doesn't trust me or would want to go into my phone without my knowledge. I have nothing to hide, but I don't believe in invading a spouse's privacy. Though I guess if I thought he was up to something sketchy, I might change my mind about not wanting to invade his privacy!

I would share it just in case something happens to me. Having names and numbers is helpful if friends need to be notified in case of emergency.

I have no juicy secrets so accessing my texts wouldn't bring up anything I wouldn't want anyone to see.

My late DH had no password either.

I do have a password on my laptop but my BIL has it, just in case.

@Nightowlz I only have security on my phone in case I ever lose it. Don't want to make it easy for someone to get access to everything on my phone. I use biometrics for most of my apps, but still wouldn't want anyone to be able to get to my contacts, personal photos etc.

not sure why he would ask, but i guess if he did i would give it to him.

one of my daughters knows how to get into my phone.

@aj1980 DH knows my password to my phone and computer. His phone is touch password only, because he uses it for work. But I know his computer password. Our children know our passwords as well, but our grandchildren don't. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want your spouse to know.

I have his and have told him mine though I don't know that he would know. Neither of us are going to use it to check into what we are doing on either; it is in case of emergency and either of us needs access to anything on either's devices. We are at an age where there is nothing interesting to hide and we have to worry about emergency access.

Most people have their phone with them all the time. If DH is with me when I leave the house I leave my phone at home. If I take it with me I leave it in the car. I only take it in case of an emergency since anything else can wait til I get home.

If you have personal info I would use a password. I just don't see the need for mine. I basically use it for texts.

I know his, and he knows mine. There have been times when it has been very useful knowing, and avoiding a hassle.

i am honestly not sure why my s/o would NEED to know....... he has his own phone......

Yes. We know each other's phone passwords. It's important for emergencies. My brother didn't know his wife's password. She was incapacitated and couldn't tell him. There was important info on her phone that needed to be accessed, but he couldn't get to it.

I don't use a password and my cell phone is used only for emergency phone calls. Nobody knows my cell phone number other than myself and my wife.

Why would I not want my wife to be able to access my cell phone?

Absolutely....for everything and there are many passwords. If anything happened to one of us...we would be able to access any account necessary. If I didn't trust my husband, I wouldn't be married to him...we trust each other.

Plus, I don't have a password on my phone in case something happens and I'm incapacitated, I want whoever is assisting me to be able to call my DH or one of my "Contacts"

I've never asked DH for his password, but I'm 99% sure I know what it is - It's probably the one he uses for everything. (LOL)

ETA: I don't have any shopping or banking Apps on my phone, so there's no danger in a "stranger" having access to my banking or debit card information.

Yes my hubby knows the password to my phone - the question isn't if he KNOWS it, but whether or not he actually cares to REMEMBER it. I have nothing to hide so he's welcome to check my phone whenever he'd like, but he never shows any interest in my phone because he spends so much time on his own for work purposes. I also know his password but rarely touch his phone unless I want to let him know he missed a call or text. I'm not a huge fan of modern technology and use my cell phone primarily for necessary phone calls and a few texts now and then, so there's nothing there interesting enough to look at. Being technologically challenged makes using the internet about all I care to attempt. Five-year-old kids could teach me about cell phone and computer usage if I actually cared enough to try to learn, but it's just more information to try to cram into my lousy memory - so no thanks.
