SAW GARY AND RICK ON DENIM AND COMPANY FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES TODAY VERY POOR SELLING COMBINATION. RICK KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE FIT AND STYLES ETC. OF DENIM AND COMPANY FEEL VERY SORRY CAROLYN IS

GONE. IF THEY WANT TO RUN OFF CUSTOMERS THEY ARE OFF TO A GOOD START.

Oh for Pete's sake. That was just a short presentation of the Big Deal at noon. I'm not a Rick fan but I thought he did great. When he doesn't know a product, he's smart enough not to say too much. I thought he and Gary were cute together.

I don't think we need to worry about Rick becoming a permanent D&C spokeshost, if indeed anyone will.

@bargainsgirl Why not? Why do they contract with male designers, and there have been many, to sell their clothes to women? Makes perfect sense to me.

I totally agree with this shopper. Rick is great at hosting other products, but this makes no sense what so ever to let Carolyn go when you have some of the other/new hosts that can not explain the products and only seem to talk about themselves. She is a great host with a wonderful personality, that alway thoroughly explained everything about the products from the material, sizing, fit, etc. If this is what QVC is describing as moving forward, they have lost a longtime (over 25-years) customer.

Design and wearability are two different things. A man can’t tell us how a garment fits a woman’s body, or how it feels. Most women wear a bra, and a man can’t tell you how that top will fit, or if you need a different bra for a better look etc.?

So yes, in theory a man can present women’s fashion. In practice not so much.

@manny2 Well the likes of Bob Mackie, Dennis Basso, Louis Dell 'Olio, George Simonton, Jason Wu, etc. Would certainly disagree. They study design in school and learn these things.

A goid host, male or female, should be able to present anything. I remember when Kathy Levine demonstrated a fishing rod and reel if you can imagine that.

@manny2 The point obviously is that its a non-traditional item for a woman to sell. A good host can sell anything and a man can sell clothing. Just look at the amount Isaac sells.

@beach-mom Gary Goben often speaks of arm holes and straps covering bras. I'm sure if something was transparent, he could suggest nude underwear with no problem.

For me, if I see two males presenting the women's clothes, it makes me feel weird. I don't even know how to explain it but it does. And maybe I AM weird but I prefer there be at least one female showing the clothes. I guess because I feel like she knows more about what we might be self-conscious about or how we might like things to fit. She might know if you should possibly size up or down to get the right fit. She might know more of the little details we are interested in that a regular male host might not think a thing about. I know the designers have to learn this stuff but it's still not the same for me. I am not bothered by a female and a male but if there are two males showing me tops or bathing suits, I'm changing the channel.

Rick is not a designer...but I am sure he will sell whatever he is asked to sell...it does make more sense to have a female host for clothing though.

My opinion, male designers are perfectly capable to present women's fashions, makes sense. As far as male hosts presenting women's fashions. I am not a fan. There is a difference between a host and designer but if you are a host on a shopping channel I suppose you must be able to sell all products.
