Paid off my Q card and deleted Qvc from my favorites. Have purchased a LOT since 1994 but no longer. I will save money and put it someplace where good employees are appreciated.

@sandykitten You may have made a huge mistake.

QVC may have done Carolyn and Dan a nice favor. Although sudden retirement came as a shock, they will no longer be under pressure to sell or have to ride a sinking ship plus they were undoubtedly offered a nice incentive to retire, a common practice in the business world.

They both have other interests to keep them busy and , once the shock of sudden retirement has passed, will lead very happy lives.

The decision to chose these two hosts and undoubtedly other non-hosts was based on their eligibility by age and tenure, for retirement. It had nothing to do with ability, personality or performance. They may have had a choice not to retire.

If you were shopping here because a salesperson was the "reason." Then you probably will be all the better for it financially that she is gone.

Well this topic has really got people going today. All in all none of us know the real reasons for them being let go. Sales? I doubt it as many times I saw Carolyn hosting gardening shows or D&C, things were always selling out. I thought Dan was quite good too but this is all just speculation on our part. We can just wish them well and move on.

None of us are present at board room meetings.

I prefer to spend my money where ethics are practiced. After all QVC is the one promoting hosts as family and friends. I used to leave it on as background all day and often made impulse buys as a result. I don't care for most of the new hosts. Maybe after 30 years I would but see no reason to do that again. For example our neighborhood drug store had a wonderful employee who became a friend. Always pleasant and helpful. When she was lwt go I quit going to that store, There are so many other places I can shop.

Some here are so optimistic, possibly, unrealistic.

What about those needing to work who were laid off. We have no idea whether that could be Carolyn and Dan. They might have been making a good salary, that doesn't mean they are loaded.

Whether they live according to a higher standard of living or not, they might need to move...how many dogs and cats does Carolyn have that cost her money...vets, for example. Not cheap.

Some older people must cut their standard of living a lot. Some can't find jobs.

Neither of them are SS retirement age.

Forget about the SS and salary that will be lost if they aren't working until 67. Hopefully, their spouses make enough money.

Some think older people can just get a job like that...not over 60, they can't. Being laid off at their ages can be devastating. Maybe, they can find a job at Walmart, probably, one of the rare companies that hire older folks. I know a 93 year old working there.

Some say Carolyn will have more time rving, but what if they no longer have the money to afford such an expensive activity. I believe her husband is still working. Will he be able to take a lot of time off to go rving?

We can look at everything as what is the best case scenario, what is the worst case scenario. Usually, it's neither one, but it can lean more towards one than the other. Let's hope both have saved enough to live without financial hardship.

If they were doing a lousy job, OK, but from what I saw both were doing a far better job than most others. One thing that really angers me is how many items sold out when Carolyn was presenting Denim & Co.

I absolutely will not make excuses for QVC's latest fiasco.

I'm coming out of a weird "Golding" slant on things, but I've noticed over the years that many of the female hosts are having or have had trouble with hair loss. That, of course, was never Carolyn's problem (thank heavens!). There's even a wig that is styled after her bountiful head of hair, isn't there? At the least, the wig creator mentioned that Carolyn's mane of glory inspired the wig's style.

Back to the hair loss. As someone who at a young age lost quite a bit of hair from enormous stress caused by a luckless marriage (thankfully, my hair returned after I left the agonizing situation), I am familiar with the connection between stress and shedding one's crowning glory.

I am not going to mention names, but hair loss seems to have afflicted several of the hosts and a few one-time hosts. It must be difficult having to go out there before the cameras and feel the pressure of having to meet certain quotas. Many of these people come from journalism and broadcasting backgrounds. Salesmanship (out loud) is not necessarily one of their fortes nor was it ever needed in their previous employment. Even if a host started in sales, s/he did not begin when the pandemic slammed commerce. Times are tougher than they've ever been for those in the business world.

No wonder many hosts wear amulets and sundry good luck charms. They need something to get them up in the morning and get going to SELL, SELL, SELL.

Just a thought/opinion...

True. I think most (including me) are just ReACTING vs Understanding. I know both hosts have had an amazing run and hope they continue their success in their next chapters. I will miss Dan and Pat together, especially his shows around the holidays. Sad to see them go, but honestly have toned my QVC viewing/purchasing down a lot in the last few years. Blessings!

I wasn't shopping at Qvc for the host because I have shopped there over thirty years. Carolyn did a good job and was down to earth. I just get a little tired of companies buying up their competition and then going down the tubes and everyone else takes the hit.

I shop where I want to and that business would be no where without a good salesperson!
