      <description>&lt;P&gt;Does anyone know how you can get an extension for filing taxes?&amp;nbsp; Heard something on the radio you can get an extension till October, but didn't hear anything else.&amp;nbsp; DH has been in hospital and always does our taxes and we don't know when discharge will be.&amp;nbsp; We probably should look for someone to file for us.&amp;nbsp; Any thoughts?&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes, you can get an extension. &amp;nbsp;Go to IRS.gov and put extension into the search function. &amp;nbsp;Easy to do.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;it is only March 2, though. &amp;nbsp; The tax filing deadline this year is April 18. &amp;nbsp;You still have about six weeks to get them done. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;&lt;a href="https://community.qvc.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/18350"&gt;@coffee drinker&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://community.qvc.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/142405"&gt;@Linmo&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; I filed for an extensions several times during the years I was a snowbird because some of the information I needed to complete the actual form was in the wrong house when I needed it.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;But Linmo is right -&amp;nbsp; your taxes are due on April 18, so if there's any chance you owe money, be sure to follow directions and estimate the amount.&amp;nbsp; If you overestimate, you'll get your money back when you actually file.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT size="4"&gt;I hope DH is well enough to talk about all this with you even if he's not up to his usual ability to complete the forms.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Take a look at your last years tax return ( bet your husband has them in a file). Gather what paperwork you can find ( such as w2s and statements from your banks and your broker) and go to a tax professional ( not just H&amp;amp;R Block, ask a friend in similar circumstances for a lead ). He/she will advise you on what to do next.&amp;nbsp; Even though Hubs is hospitalized unless he's comatose he can tell you what you need and where it is. Good Luck! This should be a learning moment for you; even if he does the taxes, you need to know what's going on in the financial aspects of your life.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I always use Turbo Tax. They have professionals on the site that will do your taxes for you. They have always been accurate. They guarantee your return and if a problem is found they will refund your money. Just a suggestion.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
