Goodbye Already

Multiple posts about leaving, we get it. Goodbye. It's like someone slowly backing out the door repeatedly reminding us they're leaving. Bye, and don't let the door hit you on the way out!

"This is not an airport so no need to announce your departure".

Love it! I understand that people are angry for whatever their reasons. The reality is, sadly, no one cares. Money is King and it's a business at the end of the day. I truly wonder how many will actually stop buying from QVC/HSN if they offer the item you want at a price you like and it's convenient for your lifestyle. That's why I shop at either location. I don't watch the shows (maybe once in a blue moon) so who sells it means nothing to me. Not to mention I seriously doubt those who were fired didn't know sometime ago and I'm sure the hosts were well compensated. I also bet they signed enough legal papers that we'll never know, lol.

But that's me and simply my opinion.

@Love to Run I listen to a Minneapolis radio station, and they refer to this as the Minnesota goodbye. I guess people from Minn. are still talking at the door and the car. I love that show and I'm in NY.

@Love to Run If you noticed, most of them were 1st time posters saying mostly the same things like a multi-moniker.

Me personally, if I was that dissatisfied w/a company, a message board/forum would be the LAST place I would come to if ever. I would be complaining to HQ by snail mail.

It happens every time they let hosts go. That's the end for me. I'll never shop here again. Blah blah blah. But they don't go anywhere. Those who actually do ahop, continue to shop. It's just a way of expressing anger or sadness.

Many people watch QVC or HSN the entire day. These hosts have become their friends and many people are upset about what happened to them, just as you would be if a friend or family member unexpectedly lost their job. Expressing their feelings about the people who were laid off is one thing, but no one should be bad-mouthing the people who were not laid off.

I feel bad when someone loses their job. However, any poor soul who considers these hard sell hosts as friends needs some help. They are hired for vulnerable people to part with their money. They are not "friends." 🥺

I agree with this sentiment. I also feel badly for people who spend a majority of their day on this forum. There are many who come here from the time they get up until the time they need to go to bed. Addiction to QVC in one shape or another.

@Trinity11 I don't consider their fans to be poor souls. My mom was one of the die hard QVC junkies for many, many years. It kept her engaged during the day.
Back then, the hosts like Kathy Levine and Mary Beth were cherished. The ones that were recently let go - Antonella, Carolyn and Dan - had been there for many years and had quite a following. If any of the newer hosts were laid off, I don't think you'd see such an uproar.

Relying on sales people as "friends" is a very, very slippery slope. Friendships should not be based on someone selling something to you. How often I have read of people with loved ones who had unopened QVC boxes all over the house when they were closing their estate.

Anyone who wakes up with no intention of purchasing something but allows a host to convince them they need it? Parting with my $$$ that way? Not happening.😳

@Trinity11 - What @Linmo said is so true. A lot of people watch all of the time. For some it is their sole interaction with someone else. It is easy to get attached to people who make you feel good, whether it's your favorite salesperson in a store or your favorite host here. I think people know they're not their personal friends, but there is a comfort in knowing you can see someone you enjoy watching. I don't think they necessarily need help.

For me, I don't get to watch certain shows when I like. I DVR a lot of them, and some things are obviously sold out. But I also order ahead of the shows sometimes!

I really like certain hosts and vendors and I think it makes me more likely to buy the products they sell.

I had recently started to DVR shows with Carolyn and Gary. I like D&C, especially the newer Canyon Retreat line. And watching their shows makes me happy!

I also met Carolyn once at Beauty Bash. DD and I were standing back and waiting to get closer. She saw us, and came over to get us. We talked about our pets. She was down to earth and delightful. I thought at the time I would love to sit and talk with her.

So of course I looked forward to her shows. And of course I'm upset at her being let go. She is not my "friend," but if I lived next door to her I think she would be!

Then they need to seek out other sources of entertainment. Not some salesperson trying to get them to part with their money. That is NOT the definition of a friend.
