Certainly not just QVC. GM cutitng hundreds of white collar jobs, Kohl's is in trouble, last week or so it was the struggles of Bed, Bath and Beyond. And then there were all the other businesses that have announced major cutbacks this year. Things are tough all over. Hard for me to think that QVC is any worse than the rest of the business who have been announcing belt-tightening.

There's no doubt inflation is causing layoffs in other companies and QVC, too, but QVC began losing money in 2017 when 400 employees were let go, then. What was the excuse then?

Compared to other retailers, QVC's internal problems are quite obvious. Repeat customers would have to be blind not to see them.

Recently, another problem surfaced or actually increased. Wrong orders, wrong sizes, wrong colors sent to customers.

QVC has raised their prices and lowered the quality...not a good recipe for success during our current economy. When they began, Q was a great service to those who lived in rural areas or those who were physically unable to go out into stores to shop. Then the internet arrived....we can shop anyplace in the world now, research products, compare prices, etc. Q is facing the same competition from the internet as every other retailer. However, most have not raised prices and lowered quality quite as much as Q IMO.

All this didn't happen in a vacuum. Even a 2 time high school dropout like myself, easily traced back to when these massive layoffs began, along with why.

The latest number I saw was there are 7 million unfilled jobs available. That said, it should be pretty easy to find a job for those who were/are part of the "cutback". Comparable $$$? Beats me, but there are plenty of job openings for those that are part of the "cutback".

hckynut 🇺🇸

@hckynut
The 7 million jobs available that you quoted are mostly jobs that are in the service industries, workers in warehouses, etc. Jobs that do not require a lot of education. The Cut Backs that big companies do to help their bottom line usually cut back employees that are on salaries or employees that have positions that require previous experience and college degrees. Or companies fire people right before they reach retirement and send them off with a severance package instead of paying them “retirement benefits” in future years.

All of the people who get “laid off” have a VERY hard time finding employment in the same industry that they have experience working. Since most other companies are no longer hiring due to their bottom line.

The younger you are-the better your chances of finding employment within 6 months. The older you are…over 50+ you could be looking for work for years to come.

I knew people who had to change their whole career after not being hired for being “OVERQUALIFIED”. A way for companies to say…to old. AND these people were right at the brink of their homes being foreclosed on.

SOOOOO…Just because there are So-Called 7 million jobs available in the United States DOES NOT mean a employee who is highly skilled, qualified, and/or educated can afford to take a job that pays $15-$30+ less an hour-with NO Benefits!

The 7 million jobs open….if our ….. would stop “helping” people out—-to the point that it HURTS the people they are “helping” then some of these 7 million jobs would be filled.

I saw people loose their jobs, then cars, then houses, then spouses, and some their lives. Because of layoffs and bad financial decisions.

We as a society need to recognize that we cannot spend as much as we make. WE NEED TO PAY OURSELVES TOO!! Pay yourself 5-10% of ANY pay you receive. Anything is better than nothing!!

Bad economies…it is not an easy situation and there are no easy solutions once we get into a money crisis.

Hope anyone who is reading this has hope for your future no matter where you are starting from and where you hope to eventually be. We can only control ourselves and our reactions. And yesterday is gone, the future is uncertain BUT TODAY….what you do today starts and continues your future💖

When they started raising interest rates I consolidated my debt to a fixed rate personal loan and am paying it off. I watch what I spend now and I guess others are doing the same and this is the result. My QVC easy pays are about to be paid up and my HSN ones have another month or two. I have not been tuning in so I don't get tempted. I had always planned to come back once finances were better, although I really do not want to accumulate debt. However, I am very disappointed by which hosts they kept and which they released, and that is all I will say. I will miss Dan, Carolyn, Shannon Smith&Fox, and I thought I read Leslie was released as well. The economy is in the toilet at the moment, so I get it...I just question how they chose to oust who they did. I don't see Gen Zers flocking to HSN/QVC even with their "young" hosts...it is like those of us who kept the lights on do no count.
