More coming....Robot servers.....drinks only

My son and his family went to a restaurant on Saturday and regular waitstaff took their dinner order and served the food. The drinks however were by special delivery. In conversation with the waitress, she relayed that no one was laid off because of the robot. My son wondered though if he should tip the robot with crypto currency! 😉

Someone told me just yesterday that they went to a restauarnt that had recently opened a location near them and it had a robot. We have had that same resataurant near us for years and I've never seen a robot there. Guess we'll need to go back and see if they have on now too, not that I need a reason to go since it's Mexican food.

That's crazy ! I still am not used to the robot in stop and shop that goes around saying : " clean up in aisle 3 " . He's always in my way .

@Chessa35 I want someone to make a robot that will help me get things off a shelf at the grocery store that I can't reach. Oh, and a robot that will tell you what aisle/shelf a product is that you rarely buy and can't find it in the store. 😀

Oh no! I may be only eating at home because robots of any sort totally creep me out!!

They scared me to death when I was young. The old The Day The Earth Stood Still movie with that big robot gave me nightmares for weeks back in the day.

@4kitties : We went to a local restaurant on Sunday and they had two tall robots and the eyes were creepy. You could hear them moving in the restaurant because of a buzzing sound.

There is a grocery store chain in a city that I get to once in a while that has a robot type thingie that goes up and down the aisles. I think it is for inventory or something.

The last time I was there the robot came down an aisle, right behind me. I just felt so creepy and I went back an aisle or two to get away from it. I got the items I needed and went directly to check out.

I am in no hurry to get back to that store!😳😳😳😳😳

There is a robot in the supermarket chain where I shop. Height about to my shoulders. Goes up and down all of the aisles without a sound. Someone here mentioned maybe that their purpose is for inventory checking. My gut tells me that they are used to watch for, and report, shoplifters.

Everyday there is something I hear or see that makes me not mind being old. Don't really like to think about how much life is changing and I wonder how it will be for my grandchildren. Lots different for sure.

For some reason, the Star Wars "robots" do not bother me. I was a big fan of the original three movies. But that big ol' robot from The Day the Earth Stood Still scared me. Mr. 4 kitties has the DVD of the movie and I still get the creeps when he watches it!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The last time or two that we were at the warehouse club there was a robot cruising the aisles, it seems to stay in the housewares area as opposed to the food areas. But it appeared to be keeping a watch on the inventory...those things in that area seem to be larger and harder to conceal for shoplifting.

We also have "Marty" at Giant Food Stores in PA. They say he's looking for floor hazards, and seeks help with "clean-up in Aisle 3." The store has even stocked plush copies of Marty - as if he's that popular. I suspect he's actually scanning for shoplifters.

Early in February, Marty escaped from a store in Hellertown, PA, near Allentown, and was seen in the parking lot - moving away from the store! Finally, a store employee corralled him and brought him back to work inside. Here's the YouTube video:

Scanning stores for shoplifters is one thing but I'd refuse to be served by one at a restaurant. Human interaction is important.
