Social Security 1099

I never received my 2022 1099, so late last week I went online and found the number to call to request it. It's an automated telephone system.

Anyway - the recording said I should receive the 1099 mid-March ... no problem. Still plenty of time to file.

Surprised when it was in my mailbox yesterday.

Doesn't it figure that companies are required to provide W4 by the end of January but the the government can delay 1099 until March.

I'm surprised they don't give you the option to download a copy online. I was able to do that for unemployment through the state (I'm not old enough for social security).

The deadline to distribute some 1099-MISC forms is February 15.

FYI : You can also sign into the SS website and download a copy if your 1099 if you don't receive one.

@Carmie We just sit down one day and do the banks and any others all at once clip together and done. Easier than sifting through a folder to see if everything is there etc.

@ALRATIBA I didn't get mine either. Called for a replacement 1099 and it took 10 days to get it. The replacement did not look like the 1099s I got in past years. Same info, different look.

Did my taxes last Thursday and according to irs website my refund would be direct deposited by 2/24/23, tomorrow. Don't think it will come until next week though. DD got her refund in 2 weeks.

I was wondering if they might have gone out late this year.

I normally get mine right after the end of the year. It's always the first 1099 to come in. This year I got a couple of others first and didn't get the Social Security until late January.

I saw that and created an account. BUT - I have to wait until I received in snail mail the code (?) to finish setting up the account .... which could take several weeks. So - I'm waiting.

In the meantime, I thought I'd call.

Like I said - it came yesterday.

It's the 1099 ... the one that shows how much you received and how much was deducted for Medicare.

I haven't a clue what "affordable care insurance" is.

@AuntG It shows how much Social Security paid you for any given year. You need it to file your taxes. Social Security income is taxable for some income levels.

@ALRATIBA I had already printed my 1099 before it arrived in the mail. I knew my tax form was going to be more complicated than it often is, so I wanted it out of my hands as soon as possible.

No not really, some companies let the old ones stay in place most of the time. Unless they are a new hire since that form has changed in recent years. You can also fine one on the IRS website under forms and publications or you may fine it posted on your companies website. You really fine that you have to ask for one.

@ALRATIBA I'm surprise you did not receive your code by text. I signed up last year and that's the way it was done. Maybe things have changed.
