The stupidest move in business. McDonald's changed their fries. A product they are known for.

My husband brought food home about six months ago. I discovered that they have greatly improved their nuggets. I was pleasantly surprised. They also improved their burgers and buns. Prior to about six months ago, I had not tried McD's in years (except for their fries ) because the last time I did everything except the fries tasted like cardboard.

Their fries...that's another story. The one thing they have always done well are their French fries. Not anymore. They have made them skinny and they don't taste good. They aren't even close to the usual fries they have had for so long.

They changed the oils in which they fry their French fries also. Previously used beef fat and customers, I believe in India, as well as other individuals complained.

Whenever I have a sick stomach, one of the things I hunger for and can tolerate after a bit of time is McDonald's fries. I realize for many people, fries would make them feel queasier, but McD's fries are what I enjoy.

The truth is that I have not enjoyed them lately. I still do not like anything else on their menu. For the first time in decades I ate their nuggets about seven or more months ago, and I thought they were dreadful. If the change to their nuggets is recent, I missed the moment. In truth, the only nuggets I like are Chick-fil-A's.

i did not notice if they did......still as yummy as ever to me.

i eat them at least once a month and they are my favorite "snack" to eat when i travel to the beach.

I always preferred Burger King's fries....but last month I didn't even finish them.... seems as thought they have a " coating " on them, similar to what some diners have switched to.

Easier to skip the visit to both BK as well as though diners.

@sunshine45 @They are much narrower. I can't see how you could miss this unless the fries vary from location to location.

I periodically get the chicken nuggets meal with fries. I've noticed no change. Still as yummy as ever!!!!!!!!!!! In my area, their fries have always been skinny. (Or at least what i'd call skinny, compared with Wendy's).

They used to use lard for frying, but stopped. I think they then tried add in beef flavoring to replace the tallow but have discontinued that as well. Why mess with success?

Several times in the past, Micky D's changed the oil. One time it was to make them healthier.

As for being skinny, who knows, maybe they get done faster.

@Mindy D McDonald's fries have always been skinny -- at least in NYC and DC, MD & VA. I haven't had anything else from McDonald's for about the last 10 years, but I do get a small french fries about a couple of times a month.

We haven't noticed any difference in the fries where we are. McDs fries have always been "skinny fries". I don't see how they could get any "skinnier" - there wouldn't be anything to fry. They'd end up like potato sticks.

I'll pay more attention next time I get an order.

I frequently eat at McDonald's. I have noticed ZERO difference in any of their items. The fries are still great.

The last time I purchased McD's was when my kids were both young enough to beg for a Happy Meal. I would get the fries for myself and get them their Happy Meals.

They are both now in their mid thirties. It's close to 30 years since I bought McDonald's....or from any other similar fast food burger place.

I've been enjoying eating at McDonald's once in awhile for over 50 years. The only time I noticed a change in french fries was when they quit frying them in lard many years ago. Not nearly as tasty, to me, but healthier.

The "fixings" on just their original hamburger has gotten alot less over the years, I used to enjoy just getting those. But now I order the Quarter Pounder Deluxe, and it is very good.

I would email those companies with the coated fries.

Sometimes, if enough people 'complain', they pay attention, and just might bring back the original ones.
