Cell Phone Plans

I am trying to find a plan for an 80 year old neighbor who rarely uses his phone but needs a reliable network and only one line. I get so confused trying to help. Can anyone make a suggestion or point me in the right direction?

I highly recommend checking the Puretalk dot com website. Great customer service and very happy with our plan. I think it's veteran owned.

Consumer Cellular would probably be your best best. They have some simple phones and cater to seniors with patient CS. You can get info online and at Target Stores in the electronics department.

I have a TRACPHONE. I have had one for years now. I never get a bill.

The 1500 minutes that come with the phone last me all year and I even carry the excess minutes over. TRACPHONE also offers plans, but I have never needed one. They are so inexpensive.

My phone uses VERIZON.

I too, have used Tracfone for years. So inexpensive that I buy a new TSV phone from the Q or HSN every year. Just make sure you that you go online to activate the phone. From what I've read their CS isn't very good. It's a very easy process. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Sounds just like me. I am 83 and seldom use my cell phone. That is why I have been with TracFone for many, many years.

My present phone's, year will expire this month. I bought a new one a couple months ago and will activate it pretty soon.

Both these phones cost me $ 59.98 delivered, for a year. That comes down to $4.99 per month. Both came with 1500 Talk Minutes/1500 Texts and/1500mb. data.

Both are Samsung Galaxy with all the stuff on them I never use. For me it is only a phone I use to call someone, primarily my wife. She is the only person that has my cell number.

Been happy with the prices and TracFone. I get a new phone almost every year. Seems to always be the cheapest way.

Tracfone for me also. My husband has a great i phone, but I use a phone much less and could not justify the expense of a high-end phone. Tracfone goes with me in case of emergerncies. I feel safe and it's not costing me an arm and a leg.

I think first you need to find out how much and what type of usage will he need.

Does he want a simple large button phone? Does he want a smart phone? Will it be used primarily just for the phone? Will it be used for internet? Texting? Photos? And how much for the phone and monthly service does he want to spend? Would he be comfortable loading a payment card or want auto-payments?

I think if he wants just the basics then Consumer Cellular may be they way to go since they offer a variety of options geared to senior.

I am 72 and have been using consumer cellular for years. Mine is a flip phone. Purchased at Target (it comes with a small manual booklet for easy instructions...for taking pictures as an example). I also purchased the charger as well. You can choose whether you want text msgs as well. I can't tell you what the monthly charges are only because new customers may get a cheaper rate than what I do.

@Etoile308 Yes, those questions matter. He was given a new model iPhone (not sure which, but I think it is the latest model) to replace a old phone he had. He was with Boost and some billing thing got messed up even though he had automatic payments set up so he wants to change providers since they cut off his service without notice. I'm not sure whose fault this actually was. He will use the internet and email but I think that's it. I don't think he would be good with loading a payment card. While there is no need for an expensive plan, money is not an object. Thanks, I think Consumer Cellular may be his best option.

@Biftu, Just a word about Boost. My sister uses them. She was getting texts and emails a couple of months ago about needing to convert to a new website or some type of update. Not certain of details, just that she needed to change something. I only know this because she wondered if it was some type of scam. That may have something to do with your friends case.

Cosumer Cellular! They're great. They are always so nice when you talk to them and they explain things so well. They have different plans to meet your needs.

I've had Tracfone for years, but you have to be able to use and maneuver around the website if you need help

or need to ask a question because contacting their customer service by phone results in a horrible experience
