I Don't Want To Jinx Anything, But....

January here in NEPA has not been that bad. It has been in the mid 30s and into the low 40s for most of the month.

Christmas weekend was bitterly cold and windy so the "warm up" is nice.

We are to get 3 to 6 inches of snow later but then to get above freezing so most likely it won't last.

My home heating oil was only $3.89 a gallon. Yes, that is still more than past years but it is down from $5.99.

Not sure what Feb. will bring and we have gotten some doozies of snow storms in March but we are closer to spring every day. Gaining nearly 2 minutes of daylight every day is a plus.

NYS - (not the apple)............season snowplowing change this year went up to $500+ - - okay, often get 100" - -

so far have been plowed once and some people have req'd none! average 20 inches..............stay warm

No snow here for east central Pa. Looks to be all rain. Said we could have freezing rain or sleet, but it's in the mid 40's so will have to wait and see. Rain tomorrow, too. Not missing the snow at all.

That hurts - to pay $500 and have no need for snow plowing. I guess it's best to view it as insurance. My mother lives in Western NY and pays by the trip, not the season.

I don't miss the lack of snow. You can get out and about without worrying about falling on snow, or worse, ice.

The one thing I need to see soon is the sun. It has been couldy/dreary for days now. I need a day with some sun.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I don't want to jinx anything either and I'm not complaining but here in Chicago the storms all seem to be going either to the north of us or to the south. Have been here 7 winters and have yet to experience anything more than 5-6 inches of snow at a time. And yes the days are at least 45 minutes longer than a month ago. Yeah!!!

always sunny in TX. I wear sunscreen yr round.

@ValuSkr Well.......my retired guy charged $15 per when we got tons of snow - it totaled just over $1,000. for the season..........all business plow deals only accept a per season rate.

So it's a roll of the dice............I'd rather pay $500 and NO snow. LOL

My area of WV is under a weather advisory for freezing rain until 4 p.m. today. Rain will turn to snow and this area is just barely in the 3-5" range on the weather map. Temperature is at 30, so we are cold, but the rain has not started yet.

Our winter has been mild so far, but we still have near 3 months to get walloped! February and March are cold rough months here, and heavy, wet snows cover us in April when the ground is warming, so the snow doesn't last long.

I'm not complaining one bit about the winter weather!

You're right...DON'T JINX IT!!!

Christmas was SO horrible here I almost have PTSD from that cold and near hurricane winds for two days....my home, though built in the 1980's, was just NOT built for that two day onslaught of zero.....

Here's something I cheer myself up with:

Only THIRTY SEVEN days til March 1!!!!!

I know we can still get cold and snow in March, but each day brings us closer to April...and it's less of a chance that the stuff will linger too long....

March. ...Even the word gives encouragement.....!!!!

SOOOOOOOOOO much more so than "NOVEMBER"!!!

And the days are getting longer....

I actually heard a phoebe the other day ( a small bird that arrives here in spring and has a two tone very distinctive call....FEEEE---BEEEEE!!!!.....

Don't wanna rush life away, but I hope and will be perfectly happy if we get rain and even some snow for the water table....but I won't be unhappy if we don't get a huge dump....

Now don't jinx it!

Cold and gloomy (as it is a lot in Atlanta in the winter) with mist and light drizzle after a night of pretty heavy rain. 41 degrees at my house.

Like you @CrazyKittyLvr2 I need to see some sun soon. The gloom wears on me after awhile and we have been gloomy, pretty much all winter.

I'm scheduled to change my termite coverage at my house and they can't treat the soil (for termite prevention) if it is raining or recently has rained.

I was first scheduled for 1/3 and other days since then, but they had to cancel every time because of the non-stop rain.

I was THRILLED to receive my natural gas bill this past Friday though. It included the severe cold spell near Christmas (we got down to 6 degrees here) and my bill for the month was only $100.87. I'll take it.

In 2007 NEPA had a storm on Valentines Day. 20 inches of snow, sleet etc. The interstate became a parking lot with thousands stranded.

In March of 1993 we had a blizzard, 2 ft. of snow, huge drifts from wind.

Feb. and March can be bad here too.

We got married at the end of March and it was partly sunny and not bad temp wise. Not a drop of snow anywhere. On our 1st anniversary, a foot of snow. You never know.

Wow! My snow plowing is $240 each times it snows. That's for up to 4" I think. The rate increases for deeper snow.

if the snow continues heavily all day, they try to do a second plowing and then bill twice.
Expensive stuff, snow.

I have named this the best winter for quite some time.

We did get snow this morning, but it has tapered off and the roads are just fine. Can't wait for spring.

I purchased a nice heavy coat from Lands Ends a few weeks ago...might not get to wear it this season...which is fine with me.

We have had nary a snowflake thus far in Maryland.

The 7 day forecast is 40's and 50's and some rain thrown in.

Fingers crossed for more of the same for the duration of winter.

@Mersha Yes. I agree. Overall I think it'll be a mild winter in Maryalnd anyway. Maybe all of the mid atlantic. Temps continue to stay in the 40's. I hope that trend continues.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 Yes, I agree. I do not miss the snow and even a half an hour of sunshine would be most welcome.
