New Naomi Judd Shocker

For some reason, a month ago, Naomi's family dropped their lawsuit that attempted to block release of police-captured images of the scene in her room after she shot herself.

Now, the photos are online.

Not only that, but there's also a note written by Naomi that reads,

"Do not let Wy come to my funeral, she's mentally ill."

Poor Wynonna.....!

@BoopOMatic wow, that really is terrible. What an awful thing to do to her daughter - as if the suicide wasn't traumatic enough. Maybe wynona doesn't take it too much to heart, knowing that her mom was having emotional/mental issues. Even so tho, it would be very rough seeing that note. Essentially her mom's last words to her.

Why would a mother inflict a final, cruel blow on her child in that manner? There must be a history behind it, but still...

Someone had to be the adult in their relationship, and I think there may not have been one.

Interesting that she left both daughters out of her will. She left her fortune, estimated at $25M solely to her husband, A man named Strickland, whom she married in 1989.

Daughter Ashley held her mother in her arms comforting her after she shot herself, until she died. Wynona apparently was not present.

Why would someone do that to her child? Because she felt entitled to do so.

They had a strained relationship when they recorded together. Yet, without Wy, she would have been nothing.

@golding76 Sadly some people are like that - Not everyone is kind. Some people are downright cruel. Last words can be used as a punnishment or power play - that can last forever .....

Hopefully Wynonna can rationalize it as her mother was in an unbalanced / unhealthy state when she wrote that.

Naomi had mental health issues. I hope in time Wynonna can come to peace with this. I would not put much stock in anything she said.

I can’t imagine dealing with all of this in the public eye. I hope she has a support system around her.

Hopefully Wynonna can forgive her mother. Naomi was truly a mess and it's cruel to take it out on others. She made herself, she destroyed herself, no one else was to blame.

If, as some of you know and have written, Naomi was eaten up by her demons and could not help herself when it came to being cruel to others, Wynonna will have to forgive her mother in order for her (Wynonna) to have peace within herself and with her mother's memory.

To understand is to forgive. If she understands that her mother wrestled with her own demons, she will be able to forgive all cruel comments and actions.

When she does this, Wynonna will release herself from her prison of hurt, if she is in one.

Not all mother & daughter relationships are peaches & cream w/a cherry on top.

None of us know what went on in that household behind closed doors to cause a mother to be estranged from her children and/or show such hatred, being left out of a will. For all we know the hatred went both ways.

Am also sick & tired of folks playing the "mental illness" card. Sane healthy people commit suicide just as much as someone who is mentally ill.

This is really sad and heartbreaking. I wonder if Naomi could have meant it differently than everyone is interpreting it - maybe she was trying to protect Wynona from being hurt by coming to the funeral and felt she was too fragile mentally to handle it and never meant for Wynona to see it. Who knows what she really intended by the letter and either way it would hurt her daughter but she was ill and suffering mentally and physically. Hopefully she is now at peace and her daughters can find peace and comfort too. I do believe Naomi loved them both dearly.

Maybe Naomi meant it in a different way. Maybe she meant that Wynona is going through some issues herself and the funeral would be too much for her to handle.

I think this thread shows that there is a lot we don't know about mental illness. I believe it can take many forms.

I think Naomi opted for one of the ugliest ways to end her life, which is even more unfortunate for any loved one to see.

@Ttbelle Yes they do. This is just an example......

Mostly males: Going through a financial crises, will jump out of a window from a high rise building, shoot themselves in their cars, kill their families then themselves, etc. These folks were sane prior to their financial crises living the good life. I guess you can say, they just "snapped" going from wealthy to having nothing.

Words hurt; even when you know a persons heart, and think you understand their altered mental state, an odd statement like this leaves a very hurtful scar.

I know. My mother has advanced dementia. For the last 2 years I have dealt with her wild accusations, verbal and physical attacks on me. I have been ordered out of her house because she does not know who I am, even tho minutes earlier I was sure she knew I was her daughter since she told me she saw my husband on our porch, or she mentioned one of my girls!

In one short visit I can be multiple people to her, depending on who or what's on her mind that day. She has looked me in the eye and called me "mother", "sister", one of my dads sisters name, but she has not called me by my name for nearly a year.

Naomi Judd's struggles were deep and maybe more complex than anyone knows.
