Dancer Michael Flatley Diagnosed With Aggressive Cancer

Michael Flatley is at home after surgery for an aggressive form of cancer. His Instagram page asks for best wishes and prayers. The type of cancer is not being told at this time. Michael previously had skin cancer in 2003 which was treated successfully. My twin sister and I saw Michael and his dancers in the Feet of Flames tour at the New Jersey Meadowlands arena. He and his dancers were incredible. Michael is 64 years old, married with a son. Please keep Michael and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Sorry to learn that Michael Flatley has been afflicted with cancer. His concept of Irish Step dancing expanded the dance's look and repertoire.

For his originality, he is most certainly a trailblazer in the world of Irish dance.

Sorry to hear this. It's a shame that after all these many years there is still no cure for cancer. Seems like it just keeps getting worse. It doesn't matter how rich or poor, or what color or race or age. Prayers for Mr. Flatley.

Very sad to hear this. He is an amazing talent and gave us such joy to watch him perform. I saw on PBS his chosen successor perform recently. Such a gift he shared with the world.

It is with great sadness to read this. I've always loved him. I had a real appreciation for his talent. Gee, I can't believe he is 64 years old!! I still visualize him in his 30's. Guess that reminds me how old I am!

There have been many news articles as of late, acknowledging there has been an improvement in cancer survival rates. The NIH came out with a report in Oct. 2022 giving all kinds of fancy numbers. But what I got out of the report was this...

"The declines in death rates were steepest in lung cancer and melanoma (by 4% to 5% per year) among both men and women. Death rates increased for cancers of the pancreas, brain, and bones and joints among men, and for cancers of the pancreas and uterus among women".

So maybe with a few prayers, Michael could become one of that 4-5% statistic group! At least I am hopeful.
