I was just being a bit nostalgic this morning. I have always loved listening to the radio. Of course it's different now as I listen over an app and all of the stations are just a click away. But I love it as much as I did with my transistor radio next to my pillow late at night and loving that I could hear the far away stations. Any other radio lovers here ?

Oh yeah, remember it well! My transistor radio under the pillow at night listening to all the DJ's and rock n roll music!

I just bought a portable radio from the Q for Christmas for myself!

I'm thoroughly disgusted with radio in my area. I got a Bose some time ago and there's only one station, all classical, that I can tolerate. I get tired of a steady classical diet. Everything else is loud and intrusive. IMO radio has really gone to pot and is certainly not worth the price of a Bose.

Much of my teen years were spent glued to rock music stations. Now I only listen to NPR. If I had satellite radio I would probably find a lot of stations I like, but I can't be bothered. I still use a transistor radio, although they are becoming rare commodities too.

@Kachina624 , My local radio is not good, so I use the I ❤️Radio App.

I am still a fan of real radios. I have two and listen every day, mostly NPR and sports talk.

@QVCkitty1 Just this morning, I listened to a retrospective of Billy Joel hits from the 1960's and 70's while I was driving. Love my oldies!

I have kind of evolved in my relationship with radio as I made the journey from groovy to geezer.

When I was a 'tween to teen, I listened to all the AM top 40 hit stations with the fabulous DJs we had back in the day. At night, I would listen to the Red Sox on my transistor, and if their game was over or they weren't playing, I would delight in finding the Yankees, Phillies, Orioles, Cardinals or Senators in varying degrees of signal strength.

From my late teens through to my 40s, I loved talk radio. I was in the ICU following a very serious auto accident in the mid 80s, and Larry King and my radio kept me

company in the wee hours when I was unable to sleep. I always had a soft spot for Larry after that.

Nowadays, talk radio is too strident and today's music (music?) is abysmal, so I play my Amazon music through my car speakers or I listen to Sports Talk radio. In Boston, sports radio absolutely rules in the ratings!

@QVCkitty1 ...Did you like Queen back in the day? I loved their song "Radio Ga-Ga"

and especially the line "Radio, whats new? ...Radio, someone still loves you!"

Local programming from local DJ's is falling by the wayside. National feeds are becoming the rule of thumb. I miss the local DJ's who controlled music and features. Severe weather coverage was assured. Not so much anymore, if at all.

I am so old I remember Waylon Jennings being a DJ at one of the local stations near my childhood home.

@781Florist , I did like Queen. Now days I like sports talk, NPR, a lot of new music , and in the morning I listen to The Dave Ryan Show on KDWB in the twin cities, it is far from where I live, but I really like it.

@ValuSkr I just turned the radio to NPR and its all music in Spanish. Maybe it'll get better.

I'm a radio fan. I listen to Progressive talk radio and sports talk radio. I like it because I can get things done while listening. I'm not old enough to remember old time radio days but I enjoy old time radio shows on some stations.

I can always remember my mom going to sleep with her transistor radio in her ear, listening to a baseball game! I'm somewhat of a news junkie, so I listen to my all-news radio station several times a day on my Bose radio.

@Kachina624 I don't like everything on NPR either. Some shows are an automatic turn-off and some I hate to miss. It may also depend on the format of your NPR station. Some are all music, often classical, and some are all talk.

@Kachina624 My Bose is an older model. On the remote, it has a button you depress to listen to other than music. Otherwise, I'd never enjoy listening to my all-news station!

I had a transistor radio too. I took it every where with me.

My dad laugh when that song Transistor Sister came out. He said that was me. Especially because my brother always called me Sis. I was a true Transistor Sister!

Not much of a radio fan. When driving to the ice rink, turn on the FM to my preference in music, and always seems to be a loooong commercial. Switch to another that has my choice of music? Same thing.

At home and in our vehicles, if I want to listen to music! It will be either our own CD's, or music compiled from my live concert DVD's, burned on to a CD. Too much commercial time used on free OTA FM radio to suit me, and! Ain't no ways I'm a gonna pay to listen to music. 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶

I remember those transistor radios. They were the latest in technology!
