30 days without QVC

From mid Dec for about 30 days, I had no access to my Q account due to probable fraud? Everyone I talked to was very polite but it did take a few calls to various departments at the Corp level to get the problem resolved.

During this 30 days of no Q purchases, I learned some things about my shopping. I admitted to myself that I was impulse buying kitchen stuff, storage do dads,cosmetics, tee shirts and things that I just don't need. It is very easy to be logged into the Q site and just click on a purchase or to reach over and use the app.

I missed the forums. I have been informed and entertained by just about all the various categories. If I wasn't on the forums, I was not shopping. My experience showed my that Q may undervalue the forums and how the forums keep shoppers engaged on the site. The longer a shopper is on a site the more likely he/she will make a purchase.

Just a few thoughts..............

I have a similar story with a few differences. One of my goals for this year, would be to seriously reduce my QVC shopping. For the most part it's a bunch wants and very few needs.

I have not watched QVC since they shutdown Christmas Eve. Surprisingly I do not even miss it. I do visit the forums regularly and the two items that I have purchased this month were due to threads on the TSV.

One thread was on the Periea TSV, which I have two sets already and love so I purchased.

The second item was the IHKWIP TSV crossbody that I need for a trip that I will be taking in a few months.

I do receive e-mails from QVC, but I quickly delete them and others as I am going through several on my phone. I generally have no idea what the TSV is on a daily basis anymore

I agree that they may not value these forums as they should.

Years ago, I would have missed QVC. Not anymore. And although I have learned some useful things on the forums, wouldn't miss them either. IMO for some QVC is an addiction--too easy to spend money on unnecessary items.

Thank you for sharing! Lots of great observations there. I think there comes a time when most people need to self reflect on their spending habits. There is temptation every where you look.

I love coming here, but I have not made a Q purchase in over ten years. i went cold turkey and have never looked back, but I still watch for the entertainment value. I do still order from HSN.

Same here, I would greatly miss these forums -

my purchasing from Q is almost zero now.

Can I ask, what made you stop buying "cold turkey"? Was it $, your taste changed, Q not offering what you need/want? If it's too personal, then don't answer. Thanks!

I just came to realize prices were too high, got tired of paying the shipping fees, and found i could same find things on ebay and other sites for less.

Just curious and with all due respect what is QVC's "entertainment value"??? And agree about HSN. Order more from there than here.

I mainly watch the beauty and fashion shows, I find them entertaining and I can learn about new beauty products.

Definitely watch much less than I used to. Today I occasionally click on to check out TSV or whatever but rarely keep on for more than 10 minutes. I made one purchase because of email this holiday season and happy I did. It was a product I would not have known about otherwise. Other items I was tempted but turned off because of price or shipping cost. Clothes not my big interest. I used to check out TSV first thing and religiously watched Dan and Mary Beth. The hosts can easily turn me off.

I have not watched QVC in years. There were so hosts that just did not appeal to me, and if they happened to be hosting a show that I really was interested in, I found myself changing the channel, and then later looking online. That's when I had the BIG realization. I could do that with all the shows, and only click on something I was interested in to view the video. The benefit of not watching the shows, also meant less impulse buying. Not that it was a big problem with me, but even less so now.

I have become disenchanted with QVC and have gone over to HSN as I love and adore Marla Wynn and her clothes. Her clothes and jewelry are a little more expensive but they are classic not trendy, nuetral colors, classy, unique, and all pieces and colors work together, even in different materials. Love her Ecru color, and the quality is top tier. She will tell you she's not the cheapest but that you should buy better and buy less. She's right, but when it comes to her stuff, the buying less part is really hard.

Exactly! IMO, QVC and all the shopping channels should just be online. Forget the expensive hosts, sets, etc. Offer a wide variety of items at a reasonable cost.

It was interesting to read all these posts. I, too, quit ordering from QVC a couple years ago. Then got bored watching any show except for Leah Williams' fashion show early Saturday morning. Then, I only watch the first hour until GMA comes on.

But I still check these forums a few times a week. Good for a few chuckles.

My story is similar to @icezeus and others. My goal is to cut back my purchases this year. I love the Q and have been happy with everything I've purchased in the past, but I really want to cut back in 2023! I have plenty of makeup, clothing and other stuff already. We'll see how it goes.

Well, I am the opposite. I started watching QVC just for jewelry and also HSN. Then I started looking at clothes. Now I hardly EVER watch or shop from HSN, because all my favorite jewelry designers have departed. I think the QVC clothes designers are higher quality than HSN.

I actually enjoy a lot of QVC fashion and I have found many great bargains. I shopped for more than a decade before I even looked at these boards.

I think the QVC sale prices on clothes are great. If I ever stop buying new clothes then I think my life will be at a stand-still. I even buy my 87 year old mother new clothes here and she likes them all.

I have found many great QVC shopping tips on these forums! Many forum people say they no longer shop--I do not know why they still want to be connected to QVC.

If I did not shop here I would never bother with all these comments--my life is too busy and full.

@FancyPhillyshopper IMO many people who are on these forums but no longer shop QVC are long time QVC viewers and have become disenchanted with what's offered. For me, this is the only "social media" site I'm on and it's fun to see what people are thinking. I rarely buy anything here--too many other places to shop--but just check in to see what's going on.

I find myself watching and buying less and less due to the SAME limited products being shown REPEATEDLY!

Also, even if I see something in a preview that has peaked my interest, the too lengthy TSV presentations shown several times in one show is a TURNOFF and is a channel changer.

Then there's the ever growing unwatchable---annoying, silly, childish, and narcissistic hosts who prefer to talk about themselves instead of the product---except for colors which is about the only info we get....and they go over and over the colors AD NAUSEUM!!!! SMH.....

QVC is driving viewers AWAY...no wonder sales are down!
