I've seen many posts on the high prices of food here on the Q.

Sure, most are more than I would pay, but I was checking out Costco.com this morning and I saw they were advertising 8.25 lbs. of Wagyu Beef Sirloin Roasts....and the cost.....

Im glad I wasn't drinking my coffee or my iPad screen would have been sprayed!!!! Holy buckets!!!!

Wagyu isn’t your typical beef. I’m not interested and I have no doubt the price has skyrocketed but it’s always been expensive. I saw it at $200/lb pre-2020.

Wow! And I thought $4.99 for a dozen jumbo at Trader Joe's was a lot. Not so long ago they were around $2!!

Some of the regular stores have that price on eggs, Walmart still has them for under 4.50. The carton and a half.

In Kansas we are thrilled that sales food tax is going down in the next 3 years and 2025 will be the end it. We are one of the highest states in the country where as some states don't have a food tax at all.

We do not have tax on on food here in MA. That is just how much the super market is charging for a dozen of eggs. I used to be able to go to B.J's and get 2 dozen for 9$ but they have been out for over a month.

Eggs here just hit $7/for dozen and a half.

Inflation hasn't "peaked" just like it was never transitory.

Wait till they ban your gas stove to cook them on. 🙄

The best way to save on your food budget is to eliminate meat. Find another protein.

My husband and I have tried that beef. This was awhile back and not at that price. We were not impressed. I'm happy with a good hamburger @ 5.99 lb. With that said, we don't eat that much beef, maybe 2x month but I do enjoy a great burger, even over a steak.

got to do with that bird flu they had to put down a bunch of chickens to keep the infections down.

guess it's like Covid among humans. Avian Flu think they call it.

That 600 somebody was talking about made me think you can buy a calf for that. LOL

What gets me low is buying Tide Pods and Cascade pods

I was shocked to see progresso soup was almost 5 dollars a can! Not something I normally buy I just saw it on an and cap and was shocked.

Anything to create a "shortage" along with several mysterious fires in processing plants.

Personally, I'm planning a low spend year on anything that's not essential.

I think prices are high everywhere, but it also seems some areas are higher than others. I was at Kroger today and they wanted $7.99 for a 14 oz pkg of lean ground beef. No eggs at all. WM here sells cartons of eggs strapped together so there is no way to check them for damage....I wasted money on them only to find six eggs cracked or broken. I would never buy them again packaged like that.

I get Cascade pods at Costco; smaller pkg and way too expensive at grocery store. I have switched back now to liquid detergent. I like being able to control how much I am using and find using almost half as much detergent gets my clothes cleaner: I don't think the pod detergent rinses out well and don't waste water doing a second rinse.

Following his surgery, DH has started eating Impossible Burgers....he absolutely loves them, much to my surprise. I don't care for them. My dr once told me to use meat as a garnish, rather than the main part of the meal, and I have tried to do that most of the time. The big price jump in red meat doesn't effect me as much since I don't buy it that often. Still makes no sense to me that we are told the supply chain problems are over, but it is still hard to find different things at grocery stores. It has been a while since I was able to get everything on my list during one shopping trip.

I was at my local Kroger last week searching for eggs. Kroger brand had sold out of a dozen eggs so I bought the last package of six eggs for $3.50. The only packages of eggs left were free range. One brand was $10.95/ dozen and the other was $20 per dozen.
The 10 and twenty dollar eggs were previously $4 and $5 per dozen. I would have to say the the store is price gouging.
