New Years Eve, Home or Going Out.

Daughter and I are staying home. The last time I went out on New Years Eve (probably 18 yrs. ago), DH had to work and a friend talked me into dinner/get together at her house. It was a Friday night, I left a 9pm because I didn't feel well, went to Dr. on Monday with pneumonia.

We will make a good meal and have a rousing game of cards or Scrabble.

Everyone have fun and stay safe. At least the weather won't be the frozen tundra is was last weekend.

I hate New Years Eve, it just makes me sad. We'll have snacks , maybe a cocktail and early to bed.

For 8 long years in the 80s I worked in a restaurant, I worked 8 NYEs and hated it. Too many drunk rude people.

Years ago we frequently went out for NYE--Times Square, Disney World, Colonial Williamsburg, skiing in Vermont, etc. Haven't done that in at least a decade. Happy we did it when we did!

I'm in the minority because I like New Year's Eve. I feel it's an accomplishment to have gotten through another year and hope that in the new year I'll do better!

Years ago my husband and I would go out to eat, not sure why, they printed a 'special' menu...just higher prices

We now stay in and most likely asleep before midnight. We are going shopping on Sunday, I have not been to the mall in over a month and I want to spend some money.

Our weather has done a 180 since last week, so the roads here will be safe from bad weather....

Staying home and probably won't be going to bed early due to idiots shooting off fire crackers to all hours of the night. Last year I had to put in my noise canceling headphone just to get some sleep. Will end up tired on Sunday.

The last 3 or 4 nights DD fell asleep in the recliner with Petunia sacked out on her lap, the older cat was asleep on a chair. I live with a lively crew, don't I.

Tomorrow night won't be any different. lol

Home. Doing as much or as little as I want. May call some friends and family. Not planning to see the ball drop at midnight- will no doubt be asleep.

Definitely staying in. I'm not a party person at all and will probably be asleep at 8 p.m. like always.That is until the firecrackers or cats awaken me.

It's my least favorite day of the year. Probably all those perceived expectations coupled with all those years of having no plans.

I don't get depressed or anything, just not a fan of New Year's Eve.

Before I would be on the road on New Year's Eve, St. Patrick's Day or Superbowl Sunday it would have to be a life or death emergency. Home for me.

Home. I'll tune in at the last minute to watch the ball drop & there'll be lots of fireworks in the neighborhood...usually ends 3am...yay.

@QVCkitty1 I know what you mean about it being sad. "Auld Lang Syne" is a sad song, and when it is being played at midnight I literally see in my mind's eye all my loved ones who have gone on and will not be making the trip into the New Year with me. I take that moment to tell them once again that I love and miss them, and then I am able to kiss a stranger and barrell into the future with optimism and thanks to God for making it to another turn of the calendar! I hope that after your sadness that 2023 will bring many opportunities to smile and celebrate for you and everyone else on these boards.

I'm going out. Will not be far from home, but will stop in for visits with two different neighbors and perhaps stop at my community clubhouse. Shouldn't be driving. I can walk to all these places, unless the rain is too heavy.
