I Feel Horrible For This Family

Christmas Eve afternoon the fire sirens went off. When my son came for dinner 2 hrs. later he said it was XXX's house and he heard everyone got out. It was a huge fire 2 other fire companies from neighboring townships were called too.

The couple days later a neighbor called, she said the husband was standing outside with someone while his homeburned and he had a stroke, he died Christmas Day.

Their 16/17 yr. old son was accidently killed over 25 years ago by a friend handling a gun. The Dad especially was never the same. In addition to losing their house, and belongings, they lost all tangible memories/belongings of their son.

I knew the family's name but did not know them personally. I cannot stop thinking of this wife and other children.

@Imaoldhippie They have a farm and are just good hard working people. I think he was only in his mid to late 60s. I would imagine it was shock and stress that caused the stroke.

Wow so very sad! Some people have such bad luck. Prayers sent to this family. Hopefully they have some friends or family with photos of their son. I try to get most of our family photos in the cloud because of this reason.

Many years ago I remember reading about a family that was in a car accident on 95 on Christmas Day. Several family members were killed. Why do bad things happen to ordinary people?

I will put this family on my prayer list. My heart goes out to each of them having to deal with so much loss especially during the holidays. I hope their circumstances include the resources and support they require right now.
