topic Any freecycle dot org fans? in Community Chat

Good evening! Last weekend, I cleaned out from under my deck. Before I bought this house, someone enclosed the base of the deck with vinyl lattice. There were about eight pieces of 3' x 4' sections left -- I kept them, thinking I might use them one day for some project.

In a fit of cleaning, I decided to get rid of them. Before hauling them off to the landfill, I decided to list them on freecycle dot org; I couldn't imagine (really) that anyone might want them, but one never knows. I received a response almost immediately -- a lady wanted them for Vacation Bible School at her church! All together, I received about nine requests!! I met her at a local bank parking lot a few days later to give her the lattice.

This is the second time I've listed on freecycle -- the first time was a small amount of scrap metal (old metal shepherd's hook-style posts, beach chairs, etc.) I've had great success and think it's such a worthwhile organization.

Since it's spring cleaning time, I just wondered if any of you use freecycle.org? I feel better giving away what I cannot/do not want to people who want it and can use it. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Rebecca J
