Moose Shaking Off Antlers

The video popped up on my YouTube recommendations, a rare sight of a moose in Alaska shaking off its antlers...I saw the Ring security video on Breitbart, they mentioned it's on TikTok so it might be on other sites too.

They said that they do that when the breeding season is over.

Well, I'll be darned! I think I've seen where such animal's antlers look like they are peeling? So these sorta animals grow a whole new set of antlers? all over again? How do they get so enormous then?

I think I'd "totally freak out," if I found a set of antlers laying on my yard! I'd be looking for a "antler body" somewhere.

@JoyFilled Warrior. Yes, animals with antlers re-grow them every year. Animals with horns do not. I have found antlers in my yard, but just the right or left, not a complete set. Our deer general shed theirs in February-March-April.

I live near a 4,500 acre park, I find deer antlers on my walks there & on my property too,...I'd love to see the shedding happen, maybe someday.

That is pretty amazing! I never imagined that they would just shake them off like that. Always thought it would be more of a slower process like rubbing them against a tree or something. He seemed happy to go along without them didn't he?!

Y'know, I think I saw a news caster, months ago, being interviewed in front of an unusual "sculpture." Turns out, it was an "Antler Tree!" Is an "Antler Tree" familiar to anyone? It was soo unusual.

At that time, I was afraid it was created from the antlers of dead animals. Now, I'm glad to know it's quite realistic to be created from animals that merely cast off their antlers

WOW! Beautiful, now, esp since I know now the antlers were cast off as part of a normal process.

And that little furry "cutie patootie!" You *know* an owner is wonderful to their pet/s, when pets are soo incredibly adorable & happy! And she is!
