Attention Walmart Shoppers

I was in Walmart a couple days ago and I purchased an item that was on a table for 5.98 clearance. A table full each shelf marked 5.98 two piece legging sets. I go to register (yes their was a register with a cashier lol) it rang up 15.00 I told her they were on clearance. She said she could not change it so I told her nicely that they need to remove the pricing from the table because every section of the table says 5.98. She took me to customer service and they checked and it was 5.98. They have a different system they look on I guess. So I paid them no problem. You have to check the scanner to see what price things are ringing up. I am not in Walmart much but their clearance prices are amazing. I have bought things for a 1.00. LOL even at self check out I have had things ring up wrong. The people who stand and watch will usually change the price.

You have to watch everywhere. Prices are still put in the computer by people, and people will sometimes make mistakes.

You need to watch the prices at Walmart. Shelf prices and actual prices aren't neccessarily the same, I've found. I'm sure they're not alone in that.

I got a great deal with their mismarking. I got a Kitchenaid 9-piece set of kitchen things, like measuring spoons and cups for something like $5.98. It rang up at $19.99. I went to the display and took a picture on my camera and showed it to them, then had to take three managers to where it was posted since they couldn't find it. It was on an end cap and they honored it, of course, but stood there until someone got the right price so no one else could take one. I should have taken one for the gift closet.

You got a great deal! I love my little Walmart.

I always check the clearance areas and have gotten some of the best items! I have some of my favorite exercise socks, low cut wool, that I bought clearanced out for $1.00 each. They feel so nice!

I have Secret Treasure pjs that I got for $7.00 a pair. Have worn and washed them many times and they still look great!

I find pricing errors occasionally at all stores. Mistakes are made, but when I point them out they get fixed. Stuff happens.....humans make errors.

I find all sorts of kitchen items and paper products clearanced out too. Laundry products and diapers, facial tissues, etc. My Walmart is smaller and when they need more space they really discount the excess to get it out fast.

@PhillyGirl23 - I'm not a Walmart fan either but unfortunately where I live, we don't have any other options for shopping. I wish we still had a Kmart, I use to love that store. But Walmart basically put them out of business.

I shop everywhere, including Walmart, and I think there is a reason Walmart has been so successful.

They have the absolute BEST prices for pet items-- and I should know since I have multiple cats, dogs, and birds, and sometimes spend more on pet supplies than people stuff when I shop. My husband used to go to Texas every year, and he discovered the cheap Walmart prices out West before they expanded and moved everywhere.

They also offer discounts on books and greeting cards. I like to buy the big bags of Halloween candy there, as I have hundreds of trick-or-treaters at my house every year.

It is not my first choice for clothes, I agree, but I applaud all of those who are smart shoppers and score great bargains.

I'm not a Walmart fan either - their stores around here are half-stocked, dirty, and just a mess. So, pricing issues don't surprise me. But you have to be careful everywhere these days. Some stores accept what you say without checking. Others check and give you the item for free if you're correct.

I have had to show the cashier attendent the price on my phone app before when items rang up incorrectly.

Now if I feel that a price may ring up wrong I take a picture in the store. Then you have additional proof for the cashier. It does appear that Walmart makes it a little more difficult for their cashiers to change prices compared to other stores.

WalMart leggings, I have worn Time and True $6.95 wide waist band leggings for 2 years. They are cotton spandex and wear like iron. No holes in this time. Beats anything qvc sells for $40 plus a pair. They are so good, always cant find in stock or on line. Now I wish Denim and Co would get the idea and quit cutting the quality of their tunic tops. Yes, I hate WalMart, but I love my pants,

All stores make mistakes with computer entries, but I think the mistakes are why Walmart pulled all their price scanners out of stores.

I actually stopped patronizing Walmart near me because I also found that the shelf price and actual ringing price were different and not normally in my favor.

It's ridiculous that the consumer agency hasn't warned them at this point. Remember when 20/20 and other consumer reporters actually did journalism and brought that up and it was fixed in 24 hours or else?

Now, I go with my phone in hand and use their app scanner to make sure the price matches or it doesn't go into my cart.

@catter70 You are right, you have to watch for this in all stores currently. I am rarely shop in a Dollar Store, but they are infamous for this. They have a sale price listed and it rings up a different price. Now I watch the receipt when I purchase items in any store.

I find it difficult to watch what the cashier is ringing up at the grocery store because I am unloading my cart at the same time.

Very few times do I have all my things unloaded on the conveyor belt before they start ringing up so I can watch the prices they are entering.

One time I did drive all the way back to the grocery store (it wasn't a Walmart) because they had a deal of buy one beef roast and get the second one for free. Well, they had charged me for both, and I wasn't going to let them get away with that! I didn't notice it until after I got home, so I went back to the store, showed them the receipt and they refunded the overcharge.

I agree, though if ours were "half-stocked, dirty, and just a mess," I wouldn't be a fan, either.

Thankfully, there are a number of stores within close proximity to each other, which makes shopping for bargains easy. I find that my list for alternative stores is getting longer and longer, especially for grocery products as Wegmans continues to discontinue carrying certain brand names in favor of their own. Tops and Walmart are a great help in that area.

Also, it's nice to find items for $1 now that Dollar Tree has "lost its brand," and I even picked up some of those bamboo dishes at Walmart for 50¢. We love those for summer entertaining. And even Tops has a "Dollar Aisle," which is now where I get the cat's litter scoop lol.
