I'm having a stove delivered and installed next week from Lowes. What would you tip ?

Depends. Two people? How long it will take to install. Minimum $10 each, maybe more, up to $20 each.

Nine out of ten times, we tip. We even add what we call a "lunch money" tip to our plumber, electrician, and others because they are so dependable and help us so much.

If they take care in installing, respecting your property and things like that, I'd do the "lunch money" tip around $20.00 for two people.

Nope. If it's an electric stove, all they are going to do is put it in place and plug it in.

If it's gas, they have to know what they are doing so they don't blow up or kill someone and should be or would be paid more for that knowledge.

If Home Depot and Lowes have a separate charge for installation, I would not tip. Otherwise $10.00 for an electric stove.......$10.00/ea. for a gas.

I would not. It's their job. And they're not low-wage like restaurant workers.

But ... if they do something extra, or go above-and-beyond, I'd think about it. It's been years, but installers for California Closets (and others like them) will sometimes offer to do something extra (i.e., not in their work order). The implicit understanding is that you'll tip.

$10 to $20 each, depending on the length of time it takes them and how difficult it is to get it into your house and into place. also offer them a bottled water or soda/beverage as they are leaving.

Ok, glad I was helpful. I actually don't understand those who say they wouldn't tip anything because it's their job and they're getting paid. At the very least it's "Christmas" or "holiday" season and no better time to be generous.

You paid an installation fee so I would not tip anything. I'd tip only if they did something above and beyond what they were supposed to do.

When I left New York city to move to a cross-country location, I paid a kid about $20 to stay with the moving van to make sure no one stole my stuff. Money well spent.

Yes, It depends on how long the installation last. It is Christmas, and I know that though they are paid, delivery people don't make much money. It's a nice courtesy to tip a little something.

I agree and after reading some of the comments, all I can say is some people are mean-spirited tight-wads.

I always tip $20 each for delivery, set up and in most cases removing the appliance I'm replacing. Also answering any questions I may have. I have a one story home so no stairs involved.

I tip for furniture delivery and placement too.

I only tip food servers in restaurants b/c thier pay in my state is lower to make alllowance for tips. Everyone else is getting paid most likely a reasonable amount to do their job and I don't feel the need to tip. I also don't tip my hair stylist b/c she is the salon owner.

I also don't give Christmas bonuses to every service worker like the mail carrier etc. The only ones getting a bonus is our cleaning people. They just started in September and are doing a fabulous job for a very reasonable price.

No I am not. I am very generous with my time and money for people in need.

@GoneButNotForgotten No, some people are practical and understand that they personally are not social welfare agencies. They also have knowledge of how workers are paid, how much and understand that delivery people are not service workers.

Tipping is out of control and some choose not to participate in the excess. Do you fell obligated to pay wages for Lowe's?
