52 straight years

My best friend and I have done our Christmas gift exchange for over 50 years. We have never missed a year and today is the day! Today marks our 52nd straight year. We started in 1970 when I was 14.

She lives about 2 hours from here and should be here shortly. Lunch, shopping and she's spending the night so we will do our gift exchange when we are back at my house for the night.

Now, I may not be a fan of holidays anymore, but THIS tradition (and our friendship of course) fills my heart with joy.

That is a totally AWESOME tradition you 2 have!!! Am jealous!! Have a wonderful couple of days---- so amazing to have a friend that long!!!

I can relate. I met my best friend at the water fountain in our dorm freshman year. That was in 1965. She has moved around and neither one of us has married. When we were younger, we took vacations together and/or visited one another in the summers.. We still exchange gifts for holidays and birthdays ( I have a carton of gifts sitting here from her to open on Christmas day.) We email or text every day and FaceTime on important holidays and birthdays.

@gidgetgh You are so blessed to have this wonderful time with someone you've known a long time! I have one friend and my husband and that's it from those days. I hope you have a fabulous day together!

I am blessed to still have two of my very closest friends nearby. We are working on our 50th Class Reunion to be held in 2023. And we too get together several times a year for lunch.

That's fantastic! I have a few 50+ yr. friendships that I treasure. Some of us get together for brunch every couple of months and we just pick up where we left off.

What a wonderful milestone for you both. I have same and we will enjoy her visit mid-January when airfares are better. For us, we are happy to see each other in person anytime. We raised our kids together & more...I'm counting the days😊😊

I hope you enjoy your time together! My best friend from high school and I still see each other often, we have always remained close through all these years. It's something we are very lucky to have. There are a few friends that I am "somewhat" close to still but not like my bestie!! We're more like sisters in a way.

You two are SO lucky to have such a Life long friendship and shared history. It's a rare and special thing these days.

I just saw this thread. Such a nice tradition!

I have a friend who I met when our boys were in kindergarten. They are now both 34. We have been exchanging gifts since then. It's been around 28 years.

We were supposed to get together yesterday but her whole family has come down with Covid. She's feeling better and we will try to do our Christmas thing next week...we go to Peddler's Village to eat and do some shopping then she comes to my house and we exchange gifts and have dessert.

That is so great @gidgetgh What a wonderful tradition and very blessed that you both have your health to continue having these great outings. I'm a little jealous but so happy for you both.
