We seem to be on every spam phone list.

We have had trouble with our landline phone since the end of August. It goes "no line" frequently and no rhyme or reason -sunny day or rainy day; windy day or not windy day. We didn't really care because 99.9% of our landline phone calls are spam. And if friends/family wanted to talk to us, they used our cell phone numbers.

But it seemed when the landline was working we would get phone calls starting at 8 AM. We never answered. Aren't unsolicited phone calls supposed to start at 9 AM?

I am so tired of all the spam calls - I now like it when our landline is not working.

We did not get one single campaign call during election season. We do still get some spam calls on the cellphones, but those are easily silenced. If I don't recognize the number and/or location, I just don't pick up and I can push the button on the side of my phone to silence it. I figure if it's important they'll leave a message.

If you can get rid of your landline, I highly recommend it!

Just wait your cell phone will soon start filling with those calls too. Every day I am blocking a new number. Then the company calls back again with a new number (same area code and prefix but new last 4 of the number). Very annoying.

I would keep the land line unplugged or cancel if you never get "Real" calls on it.

I never wanted to give up our landline. "I love the landline. I am never giving it up. I have always had one and will have it forever". I was firmly in the land of of the landline holdouts.

Summer of 2021 I had it disconnected and after about one day of wow, I don't have a landline anymore. I don't miss it at all.

Just today I got 3 spam calls before 9 AM. I am so sick of them.

We keep our landline so that our cell phones aren't getting all these calls. Guess because our landline was out of service the past week that we are getting all the calls we "missed" while the phone wasn't working.

This last 6 months have been really bad. Between the elections and medicare sign up it's been brutal. We use Ooma and made a list of phone numbers to allow and everyone else gets blocked unless we allow them. Works great.

I don't understand why some people think everyone should get rid of their landline. I've gotten more spam calls on my cell than landline, and I only give out my cell number to a handful of people. I know they're spam calls because the number isn't in my contact list, and they never leave a message. That's not always the answer to getting rid of spam calls. It doesn't bother me because I never answer those calls, anyway. This forum isn't allowing paragraphs right now, so that's why the sentences are bunched together.

I have Verizon FIOS with Verizon phone service. They appear to be screening a number of spam calls. I can tell because there will be a phone number that appearsbriefly on my TV screen. Always a number I don't recognize. The phone doesn't ring, so I"m not bothered. I would think most carriers should be able to do some sort of screening for spam.

Give them your cell number. Sad fact but telemarketers already have your cell numbers, so it wont make a difference & spamers use a automatic machine that auto dials all number combinations.

Your land line is causing you a pain and money. Seriously rethink it and dump it. (just my opinion of course)

@drizzelllawrote:

@drizzellla

We have a landline and I have no idea what "no line" means. I am familiar when we have "no dial tone", but not "no line". Are you talking about your caller id showing this?

Seems strange to me to have a land line and say: "I now like it when our landline is not working".

hckynut 🇺🇸
