Unarmed Guard Blocks Gunman From Entering Buffalo Treatment Clinic

A security stopped a gunman armed with an AR-15 from entering the substance abuse clinic.

A security guard is being hailed as a hero after stopping a gunman armed with an AR-15 rifle from entering a substance abuse clinic in Buffalo, New York.

The harrowing event was captured on video, according to CBS News.

48-year-old Jeffrey Griffin was able to let off one shot in the lobby of Alba de Vida last Thursday, November 10 when the security guard tackled and restrained him. The security guard has not been named.

Another guard comes into the frame as the first guard holds the gunman down and assists even as the rifle is discharged two more times. Fortunately, no one was injured.

"This could've gotten ugly really quick," said Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, a local outlet, WIVB, reported. "Due to the quick action — quite frankly heroic in my opinion — by the two security officers, no one got hurt there."

Griffin was taken into custody and Buffalo police notes that he is suspected to be involved in another shooting near the clinic where a woman was injured.

According to the report, a second suspect has also been arrested and the attacks seem to be robberies related to drug activity.

Saw a video of that on the news. Appeared like 1 shot was fired before that Security Guard, left a window he was at, then jumped that criminal. The news said he held him until the police arrived.
