Kachina624, did you "summit" Kachina Peak or have you frequented Taos Ski Valley often? In truth, I do not know what one actually does at Kachina Peak.

If a response is too revealing of your location, I will understand if you respond that you are unable to answer this question.

@golding76 Hardly. The Kachinas Peak slope is one of the most technically difficult in the US. I've never been on a pair of skis. That ship has sailed. I go to Taos as a tourist and to eat at my favorite breakfast place there.

Thank you for the response, Kachina. I was reading something about Taos Ski Valley last night, and Kachina Pass and Kachina Peak were mentioned. Then I began to wonder if you had ever visited that peak.

@golding76 Kachinas Peak is in the Taos Ski Valley, the predominant peak. It would be spectacular to ride the lift up there, then ride it down, just for the view. There's nothing up there.

Are you visiting Taos?

I once watched a TV show about actual aliens (from other planets) possibly inhabiting Planet Earth many eons ago. Interesting topic, well presented.

During the presentation they mentioned "Kachinas" ... which are celestial beings ... can't be sure, but I think Native Americans coined that term.

It caught my attention and I thought ... hmm ... I know a Kachina.

@Tinkrbl44 @golding76 A Kachinas is merely a doll carved from the root of the Cottonwood tree usually in a costume which represents Native American lore. They can be very detailed and the good ones are quite collectible. They have nothing to do with aliens.

We went to Sedona, AZ, in July and took a tour of the Grand Canyon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and talked in the van and at all our stops continually! He told us about the Hopi and mentioned Kachinas. I too thought of Kachina and assumed she lived amongst those people, lol.

Oh my goodness! Speak of it, and it's in the news.

Someone I worked with ages ago married into the family of the original owners of the ski resort, and so it has held a fascination for me.
