I think it is a good idea. QVC needs new customers and this is a way to get them started and hopefully continue after the free shipping is over. Compared to other sites I shop, QVC shipping is nominal and nothing to get upset about.

Long term purchasers of which I am one, should be glad QVC is coming up with creative ways to attract new viewers. That is the lifeblood of every company. New business.

Lately QVC has been offering weekend long free shipping a lot more often than in the past and this keeps this long term customer happy. I want QVC to do things to gain new customers.

They can certainly find ways to attrack new customers without totally alienating their existing customers. This isn't doing it.

I've been waiting for a QVC loyalist to attempt to justify this.....doesn't work and doesn't make basic business sense. They've deliberately segmented customers, to their ultimate demise.

I predict that the downside will be infinitely steeper than any accrued benefits. Those new customers may not stick around when their 15 purchases are over.

The problem is, as you can see by the number of fast and furious posts in various threads today, the vast majority of longtime customers don't think it's a good idea.

Sure, QVC desperately needs new customers. But it seems like every ploy they come up with is alienating their bread and butter customers that have kept them afloat this long.

They are appealing to neither group.

I'm not sure offering free shipping to new customers is enough to make QVC more profitable. There are too many other problems with it, e.g., overpriced products, problems with shipping, website, etc., etc.

And what "new customers" is it trying to attract?? Millennials?

Time will tell if this is a wise decision.

Not a good marketing strategy. Alienating your long-term customer is not a very wise decision. At the very least they should offer current customers free shipping with $75 purchase.

The problem is they get substantial revenue with the shipping charge. It was mentioned in the last quarter financial report.

If QVC wants to stay relevant, they must address the shipping issue. I don’t buy much from them, and when I do it is only when it ships for free.

It’s not an issue of can I afford it. I can, but I also control where my money goes, and it is not going to line their pockets with outrageous shipping.

If someone buys 3 or 4 items depending on the item, it can cost $15 and up just for shipping!

@manny2 That is how I feel. I haven't bought one Christmas gift on here and I'm actually finished shopping! Your mention of the $75 minimum purchase and receive free shipping is exactly what HSN is doing right now until the end of October. And it's for everyone, not just a certain group of people.

It's not unusual for a business to offer an incentive to lure new customers. Look at the cell phone plans being offered, and when I switched TV providers I got a big discount for the first year.

If QVC thinks 1 time free shipping is going to move the needle they need a lot more help. Maybe free shipping for a year? It doesn't upset me because I have received plenty of incentives over the years as a new customer with many companies.

I do think Q could offer something like free shipping for X amount or # of items. I was looking at some lower cost stocking suffers and besides the forever time to get my items the S&H was like $25. Off to Amazon.

Why send that out to existing customers? Yo say… here’s a benefit you won’t get? Really stupid move by QVC. I won’t be ordering until free shipping days. They just ended my impulse buying with this stupid marketing ploy.

This new idea is wrong- just wrong. Sorry, I don’t agree with the post that says ‘at the very least we should get it for over $75’ -no! New customers get it free for ANY purchase/ & we loyal customers should get the same. So disrespectful, QVC.

@BalletBabe.... That is exactly what l thought when l heard this ridiculous statement today!! ...that I've just been slapped across the face !!!! I've been shopping here a lot since they first started and l cannot believe QVC is doing this for new customers ONLY !!!! ....so I decided not to watch today. When I did turn it on for one show the HOST TOLD HOW MANY NEW CUSTOMERS SIGNED UP !!!! ...something like over 4,000 new customers !!!! So slap my face AGAIN QVC !!! I'm deleting my entire Waitlist and all my orders that will be arriving in November and December ... I'm also returning things I was going to keep... Thanks a lot QVC !!!!
