What a life she had. I was just thinking of her on Sunday afternoon. Loretta and Dooley were mentioned in my Daily Devotional reading of how far they came in life from humble beginnings and stayed close the one above and each other. Some mishaps along the way but always back to each other.

I just rewatched Coal Miner's Daughter not too long ago....

Loved her music and especially Coal Miner's Daughter.

She's now reunited with her loved ones she so dearly missed.

She looked very frail the last time I saw her. Willie Nelson I think won't be far behind. They were about the same age. Loved his music. Classic country.

Yes. a legend in her day. So sad we are losing so many of the greats... She had a nice long life... may she rest in peace...she will be missed by many but she left behind wonderful music and memories too...

Loretta was in the audience the night Sissy Spacek, her personal choice for the role, won the Best Actress Oscar. First, Sissy toured with Loretta for months prior to filming (top picture.) They maintained a long term friendship.

Loretta Lynn was worthy of respect not only for her talent but also for her determination and resilience. I liked her music.

I am assuming none of us here knew her personally. I would never make this comment on a thread when someone posted about a loved one passing on.

But, whenever I hear or read the comment, "Rest in Peace," I think to myself, "Are they really resting?" Truth is, we don't know what "they" are doing. None of us know anything for sure, until we are there. I think the RIP is a nice sentiment, and likely makes the ones left behind feel better.

That's a worthy and productive artistic life--and evidently she was one of those people who have a lot of illnesses yet survive for many years. A journalist friend in the 1980s reported to me that she was always fighting off health troubles.

The same friend told me that Loretta Lynn sometimes had psychic flashes (not the menopause kind of flashes--the kind where she sometimes met a stranger and could see their near future. (This friend covered country and western music at the time. Back in the days when we had message machines with tape in them, Roy Clark was the voice on her tape. Sorry for the initial "Owen"--edited it for Roy Clark.)

That generation of great voices and gentle lyrics . . . Today's country is no where near as original, imo.

So happy she left her wonderful legacy of the heartfelt music she wrote and performed. She will always be fondly remembered and missed. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home.

I watched it a few times several years ago. Sissy Spacek did such a wonderful job~I enjoyed that movie. When I heard the news today, I thought...I'm going to watch it again.

I'm a big country music fan, but was never a fan too much of Willie's until recent years...when I began to appreciate the old traditional country music stars even more...and loved some of his collaborations with Merle Haggard (another legend.)

I read Willie's book about 4 or 5 years ago and loved it.."It's a Long Story." It was written so well, that I realized he not only had a knack for songwriting, basically storytelling...but real storytelling, as his book was almost poetic in parts. If you are a fan and haven't read it, do so...it's good.

At that point I said to my bf, also a country fan...we should try to see Willie before it's too late...at that time he was old but still touring...then....&^%$Covid!! ugh. Robbed us of a lot. It's too late now.
