Yes,it sure does. Hubbs has been out getting wood. We have a wood burning furnace that heats our home.

I wish it were here. It's still in the 90's with lows in the 70's. I'm ready for cooler weather.

Yes, I put the heat on this morning just to take the chill off for an hour or so. Unlike you @QVCkitty1 I love it. Everything about thie coming of fall makes me happy.

I’m sitting here with my morning coffee looking out at the beautiful woods showing the first changes of color. I love brisk walks with my husband or neighbor now that the summer heat has gone. I want to cook and bake more again—-soups, stews, pies. Now that I’m retired I even enjoy the snow, staying warm and cozy inside. Even as a child I hated the heat and humidity. I’m in upstate NY but have roots in New England that go back several hundred years so maybe it’s in my DNA.😊

I've felt some chilly early mornings in NYC. But the daytime highs are still somewhat near 70. The house is nice and cool at night, perfect for sleeping. And during the day I'm dressed in jeans and long sleeves.

I have the thermostat turned off until mid-October or maybe the 3rd week in October. I don't want heat until daylight outdoor temps stay in the 50s and then the house gets too cool, which, for me, is below 65. I still have all the windows open, but that will change soon. I kick up the heat much later than most people.

That said, I did test the thermostat and the furnace by asking for heat one cool morning. Every thing worked fine, so I turned it back off. I replaced the batteries in the thermostat to make sure it's reliable for the whole heating season.

I'm good to go for winter, but not bringing up heat yet. I use balanced billing from the gas company to pay year round for gas for heating, hot water, and cooking. Last year balanced billing was $109 per month. This year I'm being billed $140 per month to anticipate higher fuel costs.

No heat coming up here until I allow the thermostat to demand it and that's a few more weeks away. I like it cool.

I haven't turned mine on yet. I have natural gas and not sure how sky high the bills will be this season. I only turn it to 69 and then bundle up. Guess I'll turn it on to make sure everything is working okay. The service guys are coming next week to do a checkup on the furnace. It's not quite 5 years old yet, but they don't make anything like they used to.

@nevergivesup , I love fall, but the heat coming on means the windows must be closed and the time is flying by so fast.

I haven't turned mine on yet. I love the cold! I can usually wait until November and even then I use it sparingly, turning the thermostat up to 58 or, if I'm cold, 60.

@QVCkitty1 @Yes, I see your point however I have spent the bulk of the summer with the central air on and the windows closed which seems unnatural when the sun is out and th sky is blue. I just can’t handle the heat.

We keep the window cracked at night even during the winter. Helps the quality of our sleep and we love to cuddle under our down comforter.

I absolutely agree with you about the fleeting passage of time. It seems to have accelerated as we age. I remember my parents saying that when I was little but it didn’t make any sense to me then. Lol. Be well.

It was 60° in my house when I got up. No heat yet as I have to have someone shut down my evaporative cooler and turn on the heat. It'll warm up later.

Our Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta starts at dawn tomorrow, the fiftieth anniversary. Its going to be mighty chilly in the morning on that big field at the base of the mountain. A record 720 balloons registered and thousands will turn out to see the spectacle.

I live in a no snow zone, I rarely use heat. If needed, I turn on the gas fireplace for an hour to take a chill off.

It is supposed to be 55 here by morning; I am so ready for some cooler weather I don't want the heat to come on; would rather just put on another blanket.

raining right now (remnants of ian), laying in bed and it is a cool and comfortable 55 degrees......and i have my windows partially open. LOVE IT!

Here in South Texas its starting to slowly cool down---- mornings are in the upper 50's....and the afternoons in the upper 80's so it wont be until December before there will be a blue norther freezing temperatures at night and we consider turning on a heater....

I'm putting it off as long as possible, but I'm cold natured so not sure how much longer I can hold off. I've been sitting around the house with long sleeves and a light jacket on during the day. Highs are getting up into the high 70's but that doesn't translate to how warm it gets in the house.

We have had so many days in September of 100+ degrees, that any break is welcome.

Tonight the low will be 61 degrees and the cool air feels like heaven.
