Morris who headed the first Catholic green burial cemetery certified by Green Burial Council in MI.

Father Charles Morris, former administrator of the first Catholic cemetery certified by the Green Burial Council, Mount Carmel in Wyandotte, MI, summed it up this way in an article published in 2012: “Nature, the gift God has given us, is intended to shelter us during our lifetime, and again after we no longer inhabit our bodies.

As with all living organisms when no longer viable, our bodies may be recycled into new life. Nature doesn’t create waste, and when we bury our bodies without anything that slows down the natural processes, our bodies become one with the earth and with nature—and thus with God.

And if this is God’s plan for us to dwell in the soil that produces life on Earth, why would we pollute the gift He has given us by putting chemicals and concrete and other things there? …

There is no more appropriate way to honor our Catholic Christian tradition of Resurrection faith than by fitting into a natural cycle of death and rebirth where we honor both our loved ones and God’s good earth.”1

California's dead will have a new burial option: Human composting

It does not get any weirder or macabre than this. In many states this is against the Law to leave a body without cremation or burial. I didn't even know this was a "thing" in some of our states until I read this story.

California will begin allowing an alternative burial method known as human composting in 2027, under a bill signed by Gov.

Supporters say it's an eco-friendly alternative to traditional end-of-life options. Cremation, for example, is an energy-intense process that produces carbon dioxide emissions, while traditional burial uses chemicals to embalm bodies and a nonbiodegradable coffin to store them.

California will join Washington, Colorado, Oregon and Vermont in allowing human composting.

https://www.aol.com/news/californias-dead-burial-option-human-033705405.html

I am sure this is against many religious beliefs. How horrible for family members to even think a loved one would be treated like this.

Years ago I saw a special about people who donated their bodies to a place called the Body Farm. I thought I'd heard of everything until I saw that. The bodies there aren't even buried and are studied.

Funny what cultures think are appropriate or not. Pulling out your organs, draining your blood, filling you with embalming fluid and putting you in a box in the ground with makeup on? Now THAT sounds gross. 😝

The human composting isn’t a new concept. It’s not disrespectful if that is what the person wishes.
