We have one more -18 or colder night and then up to almost 30 and snowy by Friday evening. We did peek above zero today for awhile. It was nice.

It's up to 67 here in SE Florida but the heat is still on. It takes awhile for the house to warm up. I'm wearing socks and a long-sleeved T-shirt. Tomorrow it should be the usual warm, sunny Florida weather again. Today, we had rain most of the day. I love the cold weather and especially love rainy days.

Still -27 below here, and my dishwasher is frozen up. We leave a stream of water dripping in the sink as the town requires it, but apparently there was water in the dishwasher lines. Got a full load in there. Oh, well...I guess a little elbow grease is in order. Too bad it doesn't burn many calories!

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to have to look into some additional insulation under the sink. Right now, I opened the cabinet doors and put a heater up to it.

Southern WV saw 30 degree temperatures by the end of the day yesterday. I met a friend for lunch, and it was good to get out of the house. It is already 33 degrees this morning, and very bright and sunny. Highs are to be 60 on Saturday, with rain, and then cooling back into low 50's, then 40's again. I can handle anything except arctic temperatures from a polar vortex.

But they said our warm-up will be short lived and it's supposed to get cold again next week.

I am excited that I can walk my dogs again this evening.

While we are not as cold as the Midwest, it has been exceptionally cold here. Yesterday the pilot light of our (new) furnace went out. The installer came with 3 hours but could not keep it lit. It needed a new part. Eventually it was fixed but in the 8 hours without heat, the cold water in the kitchen froze. (and it is still frozen) Thank goodness for electric space heaters.

Tomorrow promises to go above freezing and Saturday will be 50+.

It was 17 when I left my house this moring, up from single digit temps. But the good thing is the howling wind is gone. They predict late 20's by this afternoon and a slow warming until we reach 50 on the weekend. That I am ready for! Most years, we do get a January thaw, a few days of very pleasant weather in mid January. This year it's a bit early and I hope we get a long one. We deserve it.
