A Change At Pesky Neighbors.

I have no idea what is going on at the pill's farm next to me. His pack of dogs haven't been in my yard or in the road. Maybe he is keeping them in due to the heat.

I have haven't had a herd of cows or his bull in my yard in a long time. Not sure if he got rid of the or just moved them to another field on the farm.

Only 1 incident of rapid gunfire in a several weeks.

He hasn't cleaned up around his yard but I'll take the rest as a win. Now, will it last? Who knows, but it has been really nice.

Yipes, and I thought I had it bad when construction is going on in one of our buildings condos!! Yapping dogs, cows, bulls, gunfire?

@kaydee50 It is not that the dogs bark much but he let them run all over. At any one time he has 5 to 10 dogs. They stand or lay in the road or come in my yard and go after the stray cats we feed. Luckily the cats are mostly on our side porch and it has a gate. Dogs aren't mean just a pain in the neck.

Fences are fixed and the cows and the bull will mosey into the yard.

He likes to do target practice at night, usually around 11:00pm.

Yes, I can understand being suspicious, even when the changes are for the better. I would do as you are - hope that something fundamental is going on and the changes are permanent.

@catter70 She is good. Getting big and still skittish. We took some cat toys out for her, good grief, she loves them.

You can hear her rolling the little balls that make noise from one side of the porch to the other. She also has a pad that crinkles when she pounces on it. She was going to town on that the other night.

@kaydee50 We experience some of this, too...the joys of country living! Someone in our area spends many weekend afternoons shooting his guns--and someone has a cannon that they fire occasionally. We can't tell exactly where it's coming from, because sound carries so far through woods. No laws against it, so not much we can do. Add to that the noise of chain saws, tractors and zero-turn lawn mowers (to which we also contribute), and it's not always peaceful around here. But we still love it!

We haven't had any cattle in our yard, but some neighbors have one or two, as well as horses. Someone has a rooster that crows for awhile every morning. Someone across the pond we front on has a number of large dogs that bark pretty constantly. Thankfully, most people here keep their animals confined. We have had a visit from a baby goat, as well as a pot-bellied pig! We knew who they belonged to, though, and called them to pick up their animals, which they quickly did.

I'm surprised you get internet service so far out @CrazyKittyLvr2 . Sounds like you're so very rural!

@gertrudecloset We are not in the middle of nowhere but our "town" (everyone says town) is really a village. It has a PO, 2 churches, a gas station/small covenience store combo. 3 businesses from decades ago are long gone and the buidlings sit empty.

There are 2 larger (1 or 2 stop lights) towns, 1 north of us is 14 miles fro my house, 1 south 12 miles away. They have drug stores, grocery stores, a few independent shops. If you really want to shop it is 30 to 35 miles (one way) to any major store. We are too far for any grocery/pizza/CVS delivery service.

We don't get cell service at home. When I moved here 53 yrs. ago you couldn't swing a big stick and not hit a farm. A lot fewer now.

It is just inconvient to be so far out especially in the winter.

It sounded rural because you spoke of animals roaming about. The only place I thought this was feasible is in rural areas @CrazyKittyLvr2 .

I'm a city gal. I couldn't live without museums, the theater, movie houses, oudoor dining, the library, easy access to conveniences, I'd go crazy with the solitude, which I guess can be iffy for you at times. Everyone has their ideal way of living, there are city and country folks. Enjoy your quiet while you can.

Agree 100%! Born and raised in NYC, now living in Chicago. Can't imagine having to drive 30 to 35 miles to doing any sort of shopping. Wow!

It is considered rural but it is not Little House on the Prarie rural. When we lived nearer to town our neighbor, a farmer, had 80/90 acres and a large herd of milk cows. He and his family were great. He kept his fences in good repair although once in awhile one of the goofy cows liked the grass on the other side and anaged to knock the fence down. He was great about gathering them and putting the fence back up.

I still have part of a downed fence in the back of my yard from 2 months ago because the putz next door is lazy.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I love that you feed the stray cats that come in your yard. And that new kitten sounds adorable too. Are any of these kitties spayed/neutered? Do you have any vet services or clinics that would do spay/neuter for people? Thank you for feeding them!

@sophiesofers We have fed strays for years. Some of the adults are spayed/neutered. DD finds clinics that do it for a reduced fee. A few of the adults that have been coming for meals for years have gotten used to us so we have been able to get hold of them for spaying/neutering. There are quite a few that you risk blood and tears (ours) if you try to touch them.

We have gotten our hands on a few kittens and found homes for them. Most high tail it when you go on the porch. Nothing like a 1 lb. kitten that walks like a drunken sailor hissing at you.

We also make cozy winter homes for them. A man down the down does the same thing. He has quite a crew at his place.

Not to jump to morbid conclusions, but are we sure he's still in the land of the living? Or maybe he's in the hospital? You heard rapid gunfire and haven't experienced his usual annoyances. Could he have had an accident?

I hope the dogs are okay. And the neighbor too of course.

@Porcelain He was standing the barn when I went by a few days ago and DD has seen him.

His pooches haven't been in my yard but I did see one down the road yesterday morning when I went out.

The dog has 3 legs after getting hit years ago. The little knucklehead still chases cars and lays in the middle of the road, on a curve no less. Oh, he has a girlfriend. Little black fuzzy mutt and they have 2 pups. I used to see the whole family walking along the road. Haven't seen mom or the pups lately.

Wow, I live in the "country", but you're not allowed to have your dogs and livestock roaming- And no one has livestock, maybe just chickens or horses (but rare)- And there is a shooting range, so not allowed to shoot in your yard-

I wonder what state @CrazyKittyLvr2 @lives in, but whatever- Anyway, its so hard when you have inconsiderate or dopey neighbors- And we have all had this at one time or another!
