Email From Best Buy

So I get an email stating I was trying to reset my password sending me a verification code. Well I didn't request a change in my password, the email stated if this wasn't you to change your password. I immediately went to Best Buy's website and changed my password. I looked to see if I had any new orders, I didn't. It's so scary to think someone can steal your identity or pretend to be you and order merchandise in your name.

@Jordan2 Apparently they didn't order merchandise on your account so their security worked. Unless you have other problems, your identity wasn't stolen.

Sometimes I get emails that appear to be from the site but when you look at the email , it is not. I always look at the address where it was sent from. Too many scams on innocent people.

I am pretty sure I got an email from them yesterday, barely glanced at it, and flagged it to go to my junk folder. It wasn't a legit email from the brief glance I gave it.

I hope you didn't click on the link in the email. I get scam emails claiming to be from BB at least once a month. I block them because they change their sender name/URL.

If you clicked on the link in the email, go to the internet and bring up Best Buy and change your password again.

To those that asked I did not click on the link, I changed my password on Best Buy's website. I feel badly for people that aren't savvy enough or don't know any better and click on the link.

No one stole your identity and no one ordered anything in your name. Nothing bad happened. To the contrary, the retailer's security system for preventing fraud worked. That should make you happy.

good job @Jordan2 ---I got an email recently, from my anti virus people telling me that my computer was without any protection---and to click this link to fix it---it was a scam---but I got hold of them to report it as well as to check that I was covered, which I am until 2024--but I always check but NEVER, EVER click any links---my stupid ex used to click all those links---such an idiot-

I get scam emails about 5 everyday. Best advice NEVER EVER CLICK ON THE LINK TO GO TO THEIR STATED WEBSITE. They make is so official and all they want you to do is reveal information. Always google the website and go there directly.
