I am a big Kohls shopper , especially for Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Jeans and so many other items. I hope if they do sell that their coupons, sales, and, rewards don't change!

For years Kohl's was the closest bargain store for sales and had good return policies. I'd purchase items for Christmas and return to use the coupons earned.
I recently returned to use a $10 reward and 20% off earned on other purchases. I spent an hour looking for a bargain for a gift. I finally found a set of hairbrushes and at the register she couldn't give me tie extra 20% it wasn't on the sign near the brushes but on a list behind her counter. I paid about $4 for the brushes.

At TJ Max I saw the same ones on sale for less than $3.
GOOODBYE Kohl's!

We are getting a TJ Maxx this summer a few doors down from our Kohls.

I always enjoy Kohls but getting tired of the gimmicks to save at there store.

Excited for TJ Maxx.

Also hearing about an unloading of real estate. Think we are still seeing fallout from loss of foot traffic. Shopping used to be a fun thing long ago.

@meallen616 : I love Kohl's. I was shopping on line Monday morning because I had a coupon. I found some Croft and Barrow 3/4 length sleeves on clearance. I placed the order and my order was delivered on Wednesday afternoon. Their processing of orders have always been great but suprised with this fast delivery.

The Kohl's near me used to be very well stocked and was a good place to find something specific. I never enjoyed it for fun browsing. T.J. Maxx is much better for that.

@Snowpuppy I don't think so maybe some but not all. Pennys is still going strong at Stonecrest Mall here.

I know many years ago Kohl's sold quality merchandise. The last time I was there to make an Amazon return, I looked around. I couldn't find anything I wanted. The Kohls cash, coupons and other gimmicks are not worth the hassle if what I am buying is poor quality. I used to love their bedding. I have a beautiful king-sized patchwork quilt from Kohls I bought twenty years ago for my grandbabies to crawl on, and it still looks great. Nothing like that now. JCP is still using the coupons and promos because when they stopped they went down the tubes. Guess they are still hanging on by a thread. Putting too weak companies together can't have a good outcome,

TJ Maxx is a close out store, that means they buy after other retailers make their orders. So they pay reduced prices and stuff is cheaper there. Their stock is essentially leftovers with broken sizes. Top items are already scooped up by first line stores. Ex buyer here.

@depglass Your description of T J Maxx is perfect, yet beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. TJX Stores (Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods) is pulling in cash, both in retail sales and stock. So many times over the past years I've thought about investing but didn't. As "they" say, buy the stock of the places where you shop.

@depglass you are so correct. Went there once and never went back. It was well stocked but no organization whatsoever and you could hardly get around.

I have a great close-out store story.

Many years ago there was a Ross store close to where I worked. It was well stocked with quality merchandise and I loved it.

But it closed and reopened 4 miles away. The new store was no better than a thrift shop, so I wrote to Ross to complain.

The person who responded agreed with me. He gave me a $50 gift certificate, but more than that, he told me which Ross stores within a 100-mile radius were "special."

Special meaning:

1. Regularly receive high-end merchandise.

2. Were used by Ross to test out unusual offerings.

3. Had the highest merchandise turnover rate.

And for a year, he let me know if something really special was happening in my area.

He made me feel very special.
