Does anyone know what Flowers in the Attic is about?

There is a movie on LMN this weekend with that title and it looks interesting. I have heard this title before, but know nothing about it. I know most don't care for this channel, but I'm ready for something new. Any info would be appreciated . Thanks

Plot Summary

Flowers in the Attic is the first novel in the Dollanganger series by V.C. Andrews. In this novel, four siblings are locked in a secluded second story room in the childhood home of their mother after the death of their father. The children are told they will only have to remain here until their grandfather has died and left his entire estate to their mother. However, as the years pass and the children have been locked away for more than three years, they begin to doubt their mother's devotion to their safety and begin searching for a way to escape. Flowers in the Attic is a dark, Gothic tale of greed and incest that will keep readers spellbound until the final paragraph.

ETA: I read it years ago. Not my cup of tea - too dark.

It's a depressing read and a more depressing movie. The book is better than the movie, but it will bring you down.

Some would say a classic but I found it disturbing. One of the few books that I didn't read cover to cover within a day.

Preds, The Lifetime movie is a remake of the original Flowers in the Attic movie. The remake looks like it might be better than the original movie, as it stars Ellen Burstyn and Heather Graham. I was thinking of DVRing it out of curiosity.

I remember really liking the book....but I'm sick like that. I used to like reading Dean Koontz, too. Haven't read anything like that in years, though.

Read it as a teenger and loved it. Read most int e series. As a 52 year old now it is too dark for me so I will skip watching. I am glad that Lifetime is trying to make movies tho.

It premiers Jan 18, so you still have time. :-) I saw the original movie, and didn't like it either, but I'm curious about the new movie because of the cast (Ellen Burstyn & Heather Graham).

i have read the entire series of books.....and i am looking forward to seeing the movie. it DOES have to do with incest as a subplot so if that subject matter disturbs you then it is probably better that you dont watch the new movie or read the book.

the original movie skipped over the incest, but i believe the new movie is going to stay more true to the actual book.
