Scam - too funny

So lately, I'm getting paypal "invoices" almost every day telling me that they are "confirming orders" - usually for hundreds of dollars.

What's funny is that at the bottom of the email, it says paypal will always use your name so you can tell the email is authentic. Yet the email does NOT use my name and is addressed to "Dear Customer."

What a joke.

@Isobel Archer These crooks will try anything and sadly some people actually fall for it and don't do their due diligence to decide if this c r a p is phishing or real.

I'm 74 and they have been trying to "get" me for years but I'm a lot smarter than they are!

@Love my grandkids Exactly - anytime I receive any notice that I've "ordered something" or that I have some bill due, I just go to the actual account and check that. Never click on anything in an email or text.

@Isobel Archer @I got one today and three in one day last week. I forward them to the PayPal stop pfishing site and then I delete them.

Paypal and Amazon are 2 of the scammers favorite "shopping places." I already know by the time the fake email arrivers that it's a scam. Both those companies use names, account numbers, and credit card numbers in their responses to legitimate orders.

Definitely a scam. That's not how PayPal works. If you bought something using PayPal....you would know it.

I received a scam email from Best Buy. Instead of addressing me by name it said "Hey Client". I always check the email address of the sender. That tells you a lot!

I have nightmares about these authentic looking emails. What if I receive one that actually is telling me to do something like change passwords and I ignore it? Recently received one from both Google and Ebay.

You can change your password any time you want--just don't click on anything in the email to do it.

Go to the website (Google/Ebay) and change it like you normally do.

I receive at least 2 emails a day telling me someone has tried to access my facebook account. I don't have one!

Instead of just ignoring it, go to the actual website of Google, Ebay or whoever they're impersonating this week. Then you can safely check your account and reassure yourself that all is ok. Just don't click on the anything in the email that supposedly takes you to the website. Go there on your own.

Don't click on anything in that email. (I won't click on anything for most legitimate sites either). Go to the real website and check it out. If it's legitimate, the notice will also be on the real website. Fyi, I investigated fraud for a huge international corporation for decades and can tell you 99.9999999% are scams.

What I don't get is Facebook's attitude ....... recently some scam outfit has been flooding Facebook Page sites with posts "you can make $12,000- to $14,000 a month working from home"......and its the same post with different names as the author and the same website address is also referenced.....Many people reported these posts that are mixed in with other responses to legit sites and yet Facebook does NOTHING!!! I wonder if they are in on this EASY TO SEE SCAM!!! 🙄.And false information is supposedly one reason someone is supposed to banned!!! ....SMH!!!

I wouldnt be on Facebook at all but its mandatory for work to communicate with each other, and also mandatory for a non-profit I volunteer for......

A couple months ago I received a few emails purporting to be from AT&T asking me to take a survey about how I felt after AT&T cancelled my wireless account. I knew right away it was a scam but just in case I checked my AT&T account. Everything was fine.

@depglass .. no need to panic. Just check your account either online or by phone.

No, you can prevent it with strong privacy settings, but it's on some popular Facebook Sites that these spammers are targeting....animal stories, nostalgia, another is inspirational etc etc.....the sites that seem to get a lot of traffic (followers and views and comments).....

I think the stupidest ones are from phoney web service security companys telling you that your internet security needs to be updated and paid for immediately or BAD things could happen. Funny thing is THEY ARE the BAD things! Wearing out my delete button.

That's so interesting. I don't have an account number with Amazon and I'm a Prime Member. I don't have an account number with Pay Pal and I won't buy anything on the internet that doesn't accept Pay Pal as a form of payment.

I don't mean their credit card either. I get confirmation emails that I just purchases so and so from XYZ vendor in the amount of $$ and that's it. I don't have an account number associated with my pay pal account.

I've never had an Amazon account number either. Whenever I call with trouble from them (for whatever reason) they are never asking for an account number from me @millieshops .
