Hiring home cleaners

In the past when you have hired a house cleaner to clean a home along with windows did that include the window sills in and out side of the window. Just wondering , as a few yrs ago had hired someone to clean a rental property that I was selling. All the indide of the windows needed cleaning along with window sills inside/ outside. The person only used window cleaner on the glass panels and the sills were left filthy . Of course , I had to address the issue with the lady . Has anyone esle come across this ?

I have found that when you want windows done, be specific. My house cleaner does the patio doors and the tracks. The windows, I have to ask for the sills specifically. One patio door is included in the fee, if I want more done there is a charge.

The firms I've used first come to your home so you get to tell them exactly what you want done. They write everything down. Some use a check list/contract. They give you a price. If you agree, you review the list to make sure nothing was left out. Then you sign it, make an appointment for when you would like them to clean.

Our old house had 56 windows so we had to hire a window washing company for those and they would do inside and out and the sills. No way would our house cleaners have done that AND we had a 2nd fooor. Didn't expect them to climb ladders.

My new house has 16 windows and it's a one story. Windows are still clean so no one has cleaned them yet. When the time comes, I'll hire a window washing company for the outside.

@gidgetgh I just moved to a new subdivision and realize that the wondows are the push up style. Where I was before you can open both windows (top and bottom) and they would open flat so that you can clean the outside without going outside. Don't know what that style is called.

It would be so easy if they would continue with this style.

@Sage04 - oh yeah, mine are the tilting style. I just remembered! I can wash my own windows.

If you hired an inside cleaner then she should stay....inside...

not outside on a ladder working around bushes and other foundation plants. She could fall and hurt herself.

(Do they carry insurance coverage - in the event?)

What I was referring to regarding outside of the sill, only requires opening the window from inside and lifting up the screen . Then with a simple wipe of one's hand a few times the sill can be cleaned easy as that . No need to climb a ladder .

I think the house cleaner should have been told to clean the window sills how you wanted.

Most cleaners provide a list of their responsibilities for a specific price.

Windows have always been extra in my experience, but not the inside window sill.

In my area house/home cleaners clean the house. If you want windows to be done you hire a window cleaner.

All our windows tilt in for easy cleaning but still our house cleaners do NOT clean windows.
