Who's counting the birds?

Cornell - Birdcast is with weather surveillance radar = that's who

Last night the 24th 2,420,200 migrated over two central NYS counties

Tonight the 25th and next few day it is it expected that an additional 159 million more birds will cross over/through the Eastern & Central states

To help keep birds on their straight and accurate mission - dim outside lights when possible.

My hummers must be somewhere in the pack. Juice is waiting for their arrivals.

Hope Grackles take a left turn to Canada.............

I thought the Great Backyard Bird Count already happened this year. Maybe this is a do-over.

Thanks for your post, I love birds (and all animals), my favorite birds are Cardinals and Hummers....

I had to chuckle at your Grackle comment----I wish that too...they are a nusiance here and kill other birds....

If you are ever near Ithaca NY. and are interested in birds, visit the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. I went once with a friend and it was really interesting , and I'm not a birder ). There were exhibits and tours and hiking through Sapsucker Woods. This was a few years ago , so if you're interested check out their website.

I'm interested in everything about birds. I started feeding them about 25 years ago, and then got interested in bluebirds and put nest boxes out for them. I just put my hummingbird feeders out a couple of weeks ago as they are back in our area.

I love watching them.

@SharkE Come to western Oklahoma and you can count bats! They show up on radar in the evening when they fly out of their caves!

We have been to Cornell several times. Much to learn.

Funny we went to the Feed Store today to buy more bags of bird seed, peanuts and a variety of suet holders. We laugh that we are paying more in bird seed than we ever did when we bought dog food.

I belong to the Cornell lab . I get all their info and newsletters. Anyone can count the birds if you sign up and know how. They assign you a small area, it pretty interesting. But I thought in some areas it was over, or in the midst. But could be wrong. Sign up was a couple months ago. I haven't done it. But I enjoy our backyard birds. I live in California, but if I was around their institute I think it would be fascinating.
