HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEEN ELIZABETH

95 years old today.

She is still in mourning and has no celebration planned for today, not even having her usual official birthday photo taken and released.

Harry didn't stick around for her b-day and is back in CA.

She is certainly an amazing lady. Still looks good. I hope I look as well as she does when I am that age. My mother lived to be 101 and looked equally good, so I hope some of those good genes came down to me.

Not surprised she is not celebrating in a big way. But hopefully by the time they officially celebrate her birthday during the summer, she will be able to have a nice day.

I wish her all the best @Pearlee, as I know many of us do... As for Harry, I'd read where he wanted to stick around for her birthday so either the report was wrong, he was 'ordered' back to the US, or his reception in the UK wasn't of the warm-fuzzy-open arms variety, which would be understandable in my opinion. Regardless, I hope her majesty's birthday exceeds what are likely low expectations in light of her recent loss.

It was well known/reported that he had only planned to stay a week and wanted to get back to his wife, who is expected to have the baby this month (I think that is what the report said, that she is due this month). He has said several times that he and his "granny" are very close. She perhaps told him that he needs to be with his wife. I can't imagine she would begrude him from wanting to get back to his wife. But I could be wrong on that.

@Pearlee Oh, you are probably right. I couldn't remember. Maybe it is because her doctor advised her not to travel that I thought it was sooner. Thanks for the correction.

I believe Miz Markle was said to be due 'in the summer'. One report I read indicated she is in her 6th month, so if true, the birth is clearly not imminent. I also read, though who knows if it's true, that reconciliation efforts among the Wales men weren't exactly a wow. Still, having just lost Philip, and at her age, one might have assumed his departure could have been delayed for a day. A tabloid, I know, but there was a fair amount of speculation on the Daily Beast about any talks that might or might not have occurred... They also printed what is purported to be the queen's message on her birthday, below...

“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate.

“While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.

“My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days. We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”

@stevieb. Of the many articles in the papers I read before Philip's funeral and Meghan not attending, one article mentioned M being due in June and several others mentioned M being 7 months pregnant. But as I said earlier, who knows?

All I know is if it were my Grandmother who had, just, lost my Grandfather, I would be staying for my Grandmother's birthday to be with her for that day. But then my priorities are different..............Makes me very sad.

At her age any visit could be the last time he sees her.

You both took the words right out of my mouth. I couldn't believe Harry left one day before his Grandmother's b.day. Of course, no one knows the circumstances, but it seems to me that when the flight was booked, he knew when her b.day was and could have extended his stay. Yes, Somertime, very sad.......and Pearley, yes, it could very well be the last time he sees her.

I would think her inner circle will surround her with love and support during thus difficult time. Unless the Queen ordered Harry to leave, which I seriously doubt, he certainly could have extended his stay to be there for her birthday. After all, she may be Queen, but, most importantly, she is his Granny!!! (What I wouldn't give to have 1 more day with mine.)

@Mersha Wrong. Harry is a secondary point. The main point of this thread is the Queen's birthday. Although you take any opportunity to criticize me, which is your point.
