Queen Elizabeth II Barbie Doll

The Queen has been transformed into a Barbie doll for her Platinum Jubilee by toymaker Mattel.

The doll, designed to capture the Queen's likeness, is being released on the real-life monarch's 96th birthday on Thursday.

It is part of the Barbie tribute collection, which the company says pays tribute to "visionary individuals with an outstanding impact and legacy".

It was launched last year with a doll of American actress Lucille Ball.

Queen Elizabeth II's barbie doll is being released to commemorate her 70 years on the throne.

Dressed in an ivory gown with blue ribbon, the doll features details drawn from the monarch's past. It wears a recreation of the tiara worn by the Queen on her wedding day, and pink and blue ribbons modelled after ones given to her by her father George VI and grandfather George V, the company says.

Shucks, I was hoping she'd be old, wrinkly, with a matronly figure. The only concession is her white hair. Otherwise no resemblence. Elizabeth doesnt have a swan neck or hourglass figure. It's about time for a grandmotherly Barbie.

It's ridiculous. That is not the body of a 96 year old woman. It's a joke and IMO it's horrible.

They just took a Barbie body and slapped some "queen" stuff on it. Stupid.

Well, i don't have any idea what Barbies look like today, but in my day they were an aspirational figure that few of us grew up to be. So i am not surprised by this.

None of these dolls are ever made age-relative. The only one I've seen close to the real person is the Frida Kahlo Barbie, which I have.

Look at the Eleanor Roosevelt Barbie-same thing-Barbie dressed as Eleanor. I don't think the idea is to make them age-relevant but to present Barbie as the person, not the other way around.

@GenXmuse I believe it is sold out on the Mattel site but prepare to pay more than the original price of $75 elsewhere.

per the news release

Since her clothing is from the past the white hair is ridiculous. Since the doll commentates her years on the throne, not her age a coronation theme would work with dark hair when she was young and slender. Just my thoughts

Now a grandmother Barbi would be interesting.
