Well, That Was 2 Days Of Fun.

That lovely Apil snow storm dumped 8 inches of heavy wet snow on us Monday night. At 5 am Tuesday morning the power went out. Okay, was expecting it considering we lose power if a chipmunk burps.

We just got it back about 11:30 this am.

At least it wasn't the dead of winter and freezing out. It got to 54 degrees in the house. We bundled up and used flashlights at night to read.

The worst part is disposing of everything in my fridge and freezer.

The next worse thing was no phone. If I was having a heart attack there was no way to contact anyone. No cell service at the house. We are lucky, have heard some will be the weekend before power is restored.

Forget jewelery, fancy cars and such. Just give me heat, lights, flushing toilets and a working phone.

Ah, spring in NE PA..

For those who live out there with a well, a whole house generator is a must.

Once you get over the price, you will bless it. The tank can be sort of hidden too.

When faced with this kind of weather frequently depending on where you live, I would sure have a generator. Our son recently installed a whole house generator at his house as it is in the country in a wooded area and they have lost power for several days every winter. No water, heat, lights, freezer food lost, much inconvenience and discomfort. It was well worth the money as they used it 3 times this year, once for 5 days.

In my 71 years on this rock, 53 of them here in East Bejessus, the longest time was 22 hours and that was 10 years ago. It is usually 3 to 6 hrs. That is doable. A pain but doable.

In 1993 during the March blizzard the lights never even flickered.

I talked to my DH's niece they live on a farm. She said they are spending a fortune on gas for their generator. It was been running for 3 days.

I paid $3.96 per gallon for regular gas yesterday at Sheetz, so now would be a horrible time to be using a portable gasoline powered generator!
