Cheer Colorguard Free and Gentle is the best for me. It protects my clothing and my sensitive skin. Other brands are not as free and gentle.

This detergent is difficult to locate. Walmart usually has it in the stores but not online. I believe I was able to order some from Target during the lockdown. The grocery stores in my area do not stock it.

What is your favorite detergent to prevent fading in colored clothes; pinks, turquoise, etc.?

I usually wash these brighter colored clothes and darker color clothes (examples: burgundy, olive, cobalt blue) in cold water and I don't put them in the dryer.

I used to use Tides that were marked for colored clothing but Tide is not making this product anymore. I use Woolite Dark for dark jeans and black tees and pants but I'm afraid it might cause color change in my brighter colors.

I use Nellie's for everything in cold water wash except for microfiber towels which I use a free/clear liquid detergent in hot water wash.

I wash all of my darks and lights clothing together and use three of those dye-catcher sheets in the load. Always add vinegar to the rinse and that helps preserve the color. Saves water that way. Water here is really expensive.

I haven't noticed that one detergent is better than another. I think using the smallest amount of soap makes sense. Turning garments inside out, short gentle cycle, little or no tumble drying and that's about all that can be done IMO.

I buy whatever Costco has on sale when I need it. Sometimes it Kirkland and other times it's Tide. Neither of us wear whites so I just toss everything in the washer and then to the dryer. There's no way I'm hanging my clothes outside to dry.

Color Catchers work very well. You can get them at Walmart or most stores near the detergent.

We Quilters use Retayne for fabric when washing the fabric before construction of the quilt.

I use Tide for everything as it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Use in cold water, separate light clothes from dark. Wash bedding and towels in hot water. I am one who likes color so I have alot of bright clothes and I put them with the lighter colors and never had a fading issue. I consider my dark load as black, reds, dark olive, true purples, brown, darker blues. I wear very little white and I would save them and wash with a light load when it doesn't have bright colors in it. I have also put bright pinks with a dark load, depends on the intensity of the color.

I used to use one made for co,ores clothing that prevented fading. I used it on my dressier towels too. It kept everything looking like brand new. I washed in cold water and line dried except for the colored towels, which I used a hot dryer for (to kill germs). Now I can't find anything similar. My colored cotton clothes definitely do fade with other Tides, even in cold water. I've tried regular Woolite for delicates and it has a very strong odor and does not work the way it used to when I was younger.

Does anything work like it use to when we were younger? As far as the type of Tide well it's whatever Tide that's on sale or the lowest price......Also the city water where I live is so bad......probably causes clothing to fade with all the chemicals.
