Amazon Fraud?

We just received a phone call that I think might have come from a cell phone because of the prefix that said someone using our Amazon account tried to order $13,000 worth of gold.

Has anyone received this type of call? Sure it is spam?

@KathyM23 It's totally FAKE. Designed to get you to give out any personal info. Don't answer these things but if you do, hang up immediately.

The calls I usually received regarding my amazon account involve someone trying to make a purchase of an expensive Apple iphone. I never push any button to be connected.

Thanks for the info @Love my grandkids @KingstonsMom @gidgetgh @NickNack @qbetzforreal The call came in on DH's phone and he was concerned. I told him I would ask the ladies at the Forum and I am sure to get a good answer from them. You ladies came thru - he was impressed. He was ready to call Amazon. Ignoring this the best thing to do.

My poor 88 year old MIL did and she was so confused. She told them she didn't have an Amazon account. That was the only time that she didn't give out her information. My DH took over her accounts. It is definitely a scam.

Definitely a scam.

In the future if you are ever in doubt about any such call or e-mail that you receive such as this, it's best to call the source directly. Not through a link or telephone number that they would have provided, but one that you have obtained on your own and can independently verify. Like if it's your bank the number on the back of your card or Amazon go directly to their website and get a number to call.

I got the same call a few days ago. Mine was also about the purchase of an iPhone. I hung up immediately and called a phone number I got online for Amazon security. The rep for Amazon said they never make these kind of calls. She also said it is a good idea to check your orders

Regularly ... and so have friends.

I don't answer my phone unless I recognize the caller ID ..... they even leave voice mail!

And - scam email.

Just ignore it all.

@KathyM23 Yes, it happens with regularity. All kinds of claims of different things being charged to my Amazon account. I never take the call. I check my Amazon account daily, anyway.

With so many people shopping on Amazon, random phishing will, no doubt, find many unaware of the scams. It's how they make their dime. It's sad.

I can't check the ladies of the forum box, but I will say this. They are absolutely right telling you to ignore any call about Amazon, and always a good source of information.

Once in a great while, I will chime in with the ladies of the forums. The only time Amazon calls a customer, is a response to that phone number, calling them first.

If in doubt about any of our orders, or a detective item, I always call Amazon, because it is easier, and I know they will get it right. At times, when they are busy, I will get a robo message asking me if I want them to call me back. That is the only time that Amazon actually calls their customer.

Yep, was getting 4 or 5 calls a week.

I finally got fed up and wiped out everything from there.

Last week my husband got one and he said A"look before I answer your scam question, let me ask you this"..

The guy from India says to him "F-U" and hung up///

I tell you, if you get the Hindi accent, thats a dead give away its a scam.

Whenever I get these emails or phone messages, I just go to my account (and Amazon is especially easy) to see if there is actually such an order. There never is.

@KathyM23 @I've lost count of how many I get on my phone. My husband gets the calls on his cell too and he doesn't even have an Amazon account. He also gets texts. I have also forwarded five pfishing emails to Amazon in the past two days.

Thieves don't seem to be retiring or quitting the way so many other folks are doing these days. It's a doggone shame they don't suffer from job burnout.

A while ago I received an email that alarmed me. I called Amazon's fraud department. The representative was really helpful and told me to highlight the SENDING address. Of course it was a gmail account. She also told me to forward it to Amazon and they would investigate.

I still get a lot of these emails, and I always check the address box then delete.

Just go to your Amazon account and look. 100 to 1 it's just a scam call.
