Oscars review

The Academy Awards just announced that Will Smith broke the rules of the Academy by slapping Chris Rock and was asked to leave, but refused. No mention of him losing his Oscar or any other punishment. What a ridiculous " investigation".

It further stated, the Board doesn't meet until April 18th and a decision whether to suspend or expulsion or any further measures will be decided. This board must be brain dead.They should have walked him out in hand cuffs. Why give him a choice????

Because the Academy knew he was being given an Oscar coming up and whoever asked him to leave was probably not supposed to IMO. That would have made a bigger to do of it. Chris intentionally insulted and embarrassed Jada and he needs taken down a notch. A hair loss is an emotional issue and I feel for her. Of course slapping someone is not the thing to do but it happened in the emotion of the moment. I'm just glad he didn't punch him which seems more like a man would do instead of slapping. Thank goodness for that.

TMZ quoted Jada Pinkett Smith stating she didn't give two cr-ps what people thought about her bald head. So now she cares during the Academy Awards. Give me a break!! This was about something else.

Just read the full statement. We all got an apology but not before Mr. Rock as he should. Class act statement and apology for all who deserved one. My faith in the future of mankind is up a notch tonight.

I hope they nail Will to the wall in a couple weeks. If schools can play zero tolerance with our kids, adults should be able to handle the consequences as well.

Time will tell if they have the b@lls to do anything about this atrocious behavior on the part of Will Smith. Me...I'm not betting on it. Very few are held accountable for their actions anymore. Look the other way and run and star again.

I was going to say that too. I guess they didn't want to make a scene, they probably wouldn't have gotten Will out before they came back from the commercial break, it wouldn't have been a good look on live tv.

Shoekitty said. I disagree strongly with the slapping there. I agree about the joke tho, things like that have no business being said. Chris had mentioned after incidence to academy and others that he didn't know about Jada's alopecia. But, I can also argue that making fun of appearance should be off limits anywhere. It is a form of bullying. Personally I didn't take the joke as anything of a slam against alopecia. I didn't know she had it either! Only. AFTER the whole incident did I know. My feeling is, it want just an act of violence and bullying, it ruined the darn night for those who were receiving awards. Anything they ever did for the good was lost, forgotten with that slap heard round the world. I have family in the business. The time and money that goes into the awards is astronomical. The preparation, the nerves, Will Smith was not the only actor there. Yet he sapped the life out of everyone's evening they waited all year for. He was asked to leave, he refused. There wasn't enough of a quarum of directors available so it was dropped until further review. His actions broke the rules he signed with SAG, he is in deep doo doo

I may be in the minority but I never needed my husband to fight my battles. If someone offended me, I have a mouth and I can speak on my on behalf.

Now if someone physically attacked me yes he would have stepped in.

I'm sure the optics of escorting him off the premises would have caused many more problems that evening and for the foreseeable future than asceding to his refusal.

It was mentioned about incident that the profanity and cursing were a huge objection by people there because it was being broadcast. I think most of those there had no idea what the argument was about, but the scene was cringe worthy they said. Hey, that's saying something for Film folk, lol. There is a delay sometimes on live tv. Depends. His tyrade was bleeped out later for replay. Those that were near would have heard him, but it was muffled for TV audience because of the of the sound system in The audience. If you have ever been in the Dolby theater, it is small. I have been in it. I am surprised how large they make it look. As I said in another post. He is a member of SAG and the union. They sign an agreement of conduct when they receive ticket and seats to awards. This is what legally the academy and SAG have to work with. If you loose SAG card, you loose benefits for whole family. There goes medical. They can suspend you for 1 day up to forever. Depending on decision. SAG also Provides most of your stage insurance too, lawyers, etc. strong union. It takes a lot and hard work and many hours to get in. Once in it governs your life once you step onto a set, or SAG venue.

@shoekitty Thanks for providing the SAG info. Very interesting as I never that nor did I know how intergrated it is in the actors & actresses lives as wll as their families.

What you stated about SAG, is it the same w/the Acadamy Awards? Asking because I was wondering what kind of suspension or expulsion they could do? Prevent him from coming to future award shows? Never nominate him for anything again?
